Anyone else quit smoking for new year?

Just that really. I had my last ciggy/rollie about 11:56 on NYE. I threw away half a pouch of tobacco to make sure I didn't have any left. It's day 6. I'm using a vape that is obviously helping. Nothing like the real thing though are they? I don't feel reliant on the vape. Not using it a massive amount.

This is probably my 500th attempt. Weirdly when I'm doing it, I find it sort of easy, usually until I snap when something stresses me out and I think I'll just have one more pouch to get me through this.

Anyone else given up? What are you using as aids and how are you finding it?

I gave up smoking in 1981 with acupuncture. I did keep the last packet of cigarettes I bought for ages, because I knew if I wanted to have a smoke they were there, but I never did.
I had a string of worry beads that kept my hands busy, which really helped.
I never thought I'd be able to stop, but I did.

Good luck!

Firstly, well done so far, hopefully you can stick with it.
I gave up end of September from 20 a day for 40 years, I was referred to tge NHS Smoke Free service who were really good, they gave me loads of distraction techniques.
I Used patches and an inhalator (I can't use vapes).
Thr first couple of months were easier than I expected but funnily enough I am finding the post 3 month period tough but I'm determined not to go back.
My health has massively improved (diagnosed COPD) and up to end of December I have saved over £1000.
Keep it up, you will feel great for it.

I gave up smoking 16 years ago but went onto the vapes during a stressful time. I would avoid using those as much as possible as they are so hard to quit.

Yes. Me. I like to give up for three or four years then randomly start again when really stressed. This time I’ve felt this has actually helped me give up as I’ve been here before.

Lots of luck to you.

I smoked my last cigarette on Saturday. I am vaping, but much less frequently than I smoked.

Well done I quit smoking 5 years ago I’d tried a million times before and always failed it only worked when I had a really good reason to give up and it was easy to do and I don’t miss it at all. I did it using patches and lozenges I got to the point where I was leaving a patch on for 3 days because I forgot to change it. Good luck you can do it I believe in you.

Well done OP I'm a strange smoker as in I can take it or leave it, so go a year, few months, or a few weeks without them BUT then have a few rollies and start up again, 5-6 a day is my max.

I'm currently in one of my "leave it phases" but this time I've got my conscious brain on and I actually think at almost 50 I'm done, so I stopped some time in December when my chest was hurting from the flu, and I've not picked one up since so I'd say I'm 2-3 weeks in.

I've been on and off since my 20s so I always think "I'm not a smoker"

It's crossed my mind a few times but actually at the pub the other day a few people walked in after a rollie and smelt just awful.. so my craving went away.

Keep going!! Oh and to answer your question I don't use anything else, just ignore the craving when it hits and keep busy.

Well done all for also giving up. I'm the same too, not using the vape as much as I smoked. It was mainly out of boredom that I smoked so much. I also have asthma which is stupid I know. My breathing at times was really bad, especially in the morning. I don't think I had another year or smoking left in me.
