Evri drop off

Has anyone been told that they can only drop off a max of 5 parcels at a time at a evri drop off point?

No. Do you have the Evri app? Sounds like an arbitrary amount set by the drop off point, but I may be wrong.

TwentyTwentyFive · 06/01/2025 13:30

No. That sounds like a daft rule implemented by the shop rather than evri. I've sent more than 5 on multiple occasions and it's never been a problem.

TickingAlongNicely · 06/01/2025 13:32

We regularly take 20! They just ask us to avoid a few peak times

Thank you for replies. Glad that I’m not the only one who found this strange.

This morning I had 9 Vinted parcels to drop off. It was after the school run, shop quiet (no one in the queue at all). Told that I could only drop off 5. Told no if I came back later with the remaining ones that if she was serving me she wouldn’t do it. Told I needed a business account if sending more than 5. Then told that they are cutting down as people are using it as an HMRC scam. Explained that 1. I don’t need a business account as it isn’t a business but me selling my children’s clothes they’ve outgrown. (I’m well under the £1000 limit and I’m not trading for profit anyway) 2. I’ve never heard of a limit before and there were no signs stating this.

Now she did take all 9 in the end but only as a one off after I pointed out the above and that I would now need to drag my baby back out or 2 miles to next the shop. (Not her problem but if I had known there was a limit I wouldn’t have had that option turned on). i now feel really guilty because she stating that she really shouldn’t and that I’d fill up their space, that it isn’t fair on other people dropping parcels off and that it is only because my baby was crying and I was being difficult.

Why do you feel bad. She made up some silly rules that don't actually exist. Try reframing it. Why does it matter if you're the one filling up the space it's there to be filled and if they don't want to offer the service they should stop. Also why are other people's parcels more important than yours? Why do they get to drop theirs off and not you?

There's no rules on dropping off parcels so don't let her make you feel like you were breaking them when they don't exist.

Thanks. It feels like because I have broken their rule and been that angry customer as I was quite abrupt and clearly frustrated. She even said if I make an exception for you I have to for everyone else.

It probably doesn’t help that I’m functioning on little sleep as baby is going through a sleep regression, my husband is working away for the next 4 weeks so I’m on my own day and night with no baby groups restating in my area yet so feeling pretty isolated and crap as it is. Then all I want to do is get these parcels gone so I can have a little bit of extra money on top of stat mat pay. (All my husbands and my finances are joint so I do have access to money but these little extras help).

My guess with Evri, especially because Amazon have been using them recently and this wasn't something I was previously aware of, is that drop off points have been inundated. They're having to provide more storage space and staff time to dealing with people using Evri. Somewhere like Tesco will have set ways of doing certain tasks and because they tend to have lowish staffing rates they'll be overstretched. Maybe the store manager set the five item limit? Who knows. But don't feel bad about it. They offer Evri because it makes them money and they hope people picking up and dropping off will also spend money in the store whilst they're there.

TwentyTwentyFive · 06/01/2025 16:53

Honestly don't give it a second thought. You sound like you've got plenty to deal with bless you so don't let this women ruin your day.

They offer the service so they can't complain when people use it. I wouldn't let one grumpy staff member stop me taking parcels there in future if it's convenient for you.

Exhausted25 · 06/01/2025 17:06

Thank you.

I know I shouldn’t let this phase me. And normally it wouldn’t. Just easy to overthink when you are on your own and can’t even message DH to rant. I will need to send stuff again as I still have things listed and baby will soon be in the next size up so more stuff to list. I bulk upload as it is easier to sell all at once and not have to do multiple trips and people bundle stuff as well.

I do normally grab myself a drink when I’m there or pick up the little extras that I need like milk so it isn’t like they don’t get my custom in other ways to.

You could try reporting it to Evri but they aren't too likely to be bothered.
Look for inpost lockers as you can drop Evri items at them and there's nobody there to give you attitude.

Our petrol station has similar rules to make it 'fair'. Its not standard practice but the staff probably get a lot of agro from people they turn away.

The machine is also 'broken' every time a particular member of staff is on duty.
