To have a social media presence which talks about work?

I work for a global company with HQ in the US. I have a speciality in the company, for example’s sake, let’s say it’s M&A for technology companies. Having sat in this role for 20 years with lived experience, I have noticed some human and company patterns over time which are interesting and contribute to whether a deal gets done or not.

I would like to write a series of blog posts/ social media posts / and/ or videos on my observations, without naming names of people, companies or my own company, without breaking confidentiality or giving any sensitive information away. I would like to market it on my linked in page - which of course is MY page but I am listed as working for my company.

my company does occasionally publish articles on these types of broad observations and I have done so for them before on the company website and in papers. But would I be completely unreasonable and illegal to start doing this independently while still working for my company?

the purpose of it for me would be to raise my profile so I would bring in more revenue (it’s client-based work,) to me and therefore my company.

am I missing something obvious here that this is basically a no no?

Your company will undoubtedly have a social media policy to which it expects employees to adhere: checking what it says there would be your starting point.

Highly doubt even if you don’t think you’re breaking confidentiality. If you advertise on your linked in your name and the company you work for will already be known therefore it’s not really confidential. Speak to HR and compliance and go from there.
