Is there a glitch with iphones that means they start droping wifi connections?

Posting here for traffic mainly but DD's phone started connecting to wifi and then immediately dropping the connection. Its not a problem with any other devices but it is a problem with all the (several) wifis she's tried since the problem started. A number of her friends have said they have had the problem too and that Apple stores have been really unhelpful basically refusing to see if they can help identify the problem and just telling them that they need to buy a new one. She had the same treatment today at Regent Street. Its not that old a model (a 12) and DH's older one works fine. Has anyone else had this? (She's googled all yesterday afternoon and tried every fix she cold find and nothing works.)

The router is always the root cause of issues when the WiFi doesn’t stay connected. I bought a WiFi mesh network to overcome the issue, not had any problems since.

It’d be interesting to see if that gets better when people go back to work/school next week; and the internet isn’t under so much strain.

@Londonmummy66 Unfortunately she was absolutely done then. The Genius Bar is very helpful and she should have been able to avoid any sales people; and her phone was worth far more than £50. I got £400 for an old iPhone 14 from Apple last week and it was quite scratched down one side of the phone (not the screen).

Yes - but she's only 20 so doesn't know how to stand up for herself. II am seriously thinking of going in and complaining about how she was treated. Regent Street is meant to be their UK flagship store and it is totally unacceptable that a sales person said that they wouldn't look at the phone to see what was wrong.

Is there a cooling off period? Can she still change her mind?

I'm not sure that applies to in person purchases but I think I might go in with her and see what can be done. I have to say that when I phoned their help line the guy was very dismissive which isn't a good sign really.

I've recently got a new iPhone 15 pro and I'm having the same issue. Defo an apple glitch.

Good to know thank you

It’s not the phone.

Reset the router. It was happening to mine and I took the advice and it fixed it. I’m not technical enough to explain the issue with temporary IPs or something or other. But it fixed it anyway! It’s a recognised thing and you can google it. Worth a try?

Its not the router as we did that (and all other phones and devices were working fine) and it is the same where ever she is - the phone picks up and then drops all wifis not just ours. It does look as if there is an apple glitch and that it is the phone.

Yes I had this. Apple sorted it out for me and I was not told to buy a new phone.

Diid they say anything about it being a glitch they knew. I' getting more p'd off that I think a guy decided she was a young girl so he'd rinse her for his sales targets.....
