To ask about the Jeremy Corbyn controversy with his choice of son’s school?

Hello all. Considering secondary schools for DD in Camden/Islington after move to be near DP’s family for support. I’ve got no family on my side apart from DP and DD!

Have chosen a school, thanks in part to some constructive advice on Mumsnet! It was the school DP went to when it was an old boys school but is now mixed and changed name.

DP’s talked a bit about his school over the years and DD very much wants to go to her Dad’s old school but I was literally yesterday years old when I learned that Jeremy Corbyn apparently split with his wife over sending his son there!

i don’t remember this news story at all but then again I don’t take much interest in politics!

Does anyone remember this? Don’t worry - it won’t influence our decision as it’s convenient for everyone in DP’s extended family, DD wants to go there and it’s currently top of our list.

… and me and DP definitely won’t be splitting up over it !

@HeronO alsp feel free to pm if you have questions about the schools in the area I only moved two years ago… and I had my kids in school in the area for a while myself

As someone else said, haven’t you left this a bit late? The application deadline was end of Oct, so if you’re still thinking and haven’t actually applied yet then you’re going to be at the bottom of the list…

Actually laughing at the thought about being sentimental about Holloway Boys in the 80's/90's - it was just about the roughest school in Islington and that wasn't easy to achieve!

Comments about the renamed school suggest it hasn't changed much, perhaps look at any of the many other schools in the area for your daughter OP....

Year 7 in September

Have I missed something? Surely you would have made your secondary transfer preferences on the common application form already, the deadline for this was October 31st.

Yes you have missed something. The OP says they just moved to the area to be near DP's family.

@HeronO it might be wise to contact the schools, find out the situation about admissions and possibly arrange to visit.

As pp, I would be looking at Camden, Parliament Hill and Acland Burghley in preference to BH.
