What do your primary age kids do after school before dinner?

If your kids are home from school around 3pm, I assume they do homework sometime shortly after getting home but after that, what do they do till dinnertime? Do they just watch TV or go on devices? We have always made them read or do activities like football/basketball outside, lego or art. They are really unhappy about that as they get older. But either they have evening activities (2-3 times a week sport) or nothing and they would just then do screens for even more hours if we let them after school too. What on earth do kids who come home after school do with their time?

Depends on the day and the weather. Sometimes it's sports activities or football in the park, if the weather is bad then it's gaming or board games. Homework if they have any, playdates sometimes...

Usually colours, draws, reads, does hama beads, foil art, other craft, makes a den or bed for her stuffed animals. If she seems bored she is offered a chore or ill ask her to do something I know she hates, like tidying her hair stuff away (knowing full well that she will procrastinate doing something else!)

My primary age dc doesn’t finish school till 4.30pm most days (independent school and he either has an activity straight after school (but at school!) or stays in the after school club to do homework).

When we get home he plays outside if it’s light, does music practice, sometimes has a club, supper, bath and reading in bed by 7.30pm (has to be up by 6.30am).

We have no screens in the week because we just don’t have time for them (but if all homework/music is done and there’s no clubs they can watch something on tv if they want to, but an episode of something, not more than 30 mins). If we have time for gaming etc it takes over and we run out of time for the essentials (we often only have 2 hours at home to get supper, bath, homework etc done before bed).

Tv, devices, drawing, toys
We typically get home 3.30pm 3x a week we have to have tea and out at 4.45pm
They don't get homework, just reading which we do at bedtime.
