to think that women working in the public search sector should keep them covered up!

I'm talking about the surestart staff, teachers, counsellors, childrens home staff, nurses and other social and health care professionals I've met this week who've had them out to put it bluntly.

I'm not suggesting buttoned up to the neck victoriana but full cleavage, with more than a glimpse of bra even worse when bent over!! Surely this is not appropriate when working with kids whatever their age.

I'm not at ALL against cleavage baring perse I've sported many a balconette in my time but if I find it off putting at work, what do the kids/parents think!!

And don't tell me I shouldn't be looking, in a lot of cases it was a case of averting my eyes!!!

lol that you think this is something that only happens in the public sector!!!!!!!!!!!

fwiw I work in the public sector and I dont flash my baps........

moondog · 02/05/2008 20:47

Why restrict it to public sector?
All baps to be folded away during working hours please. They can come out to play later.

beansprout · 02/05/2008 20:48

I blame the Home Secretary

beansprout · 02/05/2008 20:49

Actually, one of the staff at ds1's nursery has a lot of norkage on view and before I learn all the staff names I used to refer to her as, "you know, the one all the dads like."

hercules1 · 02/05/2008 20:51

Why stop at staff working with children. What about their parents, neighbours, friends, aunts, grandparents?

tissy · 02/05/2008 20:54

my dd's Primary 1 teacher, who is the other side of 50 and married to an elder of the kirk shows a surprising amount of cleavage on Parents' evening . Keeps them under wraps in front of the kids though, thankfully.

I saw a 40's well off expensively dressed woman in waitrose today who was exposing so much of her breasts that a Kings Cross Hooker standing beside her would have been considered a model of decorum.

And she had her baby with her.

hullygully · 02/05/2008 20:55

I like to see a bit of tit in the public sector

mrsruffallo · 02/05/2008 21:07

I don't have a problem with it.
Women have the right to wear whatever they want.

scottishmummy · 02/05/2008 21:12

oh yes all us NHS Nymphettes just cant help flashing at the pts. i suspect the parents/pts maybe likey a lot if they are fortunate enough to snatch a peep

peacelily · 02/05/2008 21:37

I have to be honest it's usually been the 40+ age group that have been guilty of this, not that it matters what age it is

As for women being able to wear whatever they want, I wholeheartedly agree Mrs. Ruffalo. I wouldn't want to wear a low cut top if I was doing a therapeutic group with a bunch of 13-16 year old lads.

Neither would I want to if involved in a child protection case conference. Dress codes are there for a reason you know!
