To think young Kevin Costner is NOT a weird crush!

Making the DC watch Robin Hood Prince of Thieves. Made the mistake of telling them that I had a crush on Kevin Costner when it came out. Tween DD is absolutely aghast and relentlessly mocking me.
I said to DH that it’s refreshing to see a leading man with uneven, slightly yellow teeth and bad hair!
AIBU to think that Kevin Costner was HOT back in the day?!

He has aged really well.

Slight derail, but I genuinely don't think there's such a thing as a weird crush, especially for women... The ones that we think are weird (see Louis Theroux etc for example) just aren't. Pretty much everyone I know fancies Louis Theroux, and they all think they're a bit weird for it. But they're not... Because they're on very good (and bountiful) company.

I think we tend to believe we should ascribe to an idealised male type (see: Tom Hardy, Brad Pitt etc) but, actually, we all absolutely veer from that frequently. I, for example, seem to value apparent intelligence and kindness in my celeb crushes.

So, I don't think it's remotely weird that lots of women find Kevin Costner (whatever his age) with his lovely kind eyes attractive.

I fancied him enough to go and see Waterworld in the cinema. That was so awful I never thought of him again. 🤣

Oh my days. I had endless fantasies about him back in the day. Also loved Bruce Willis and Christian slater.
May have to have rewatch of PoTs tomorrow and convince DD11 to watch it with me.

Outshone by the gorgeous Andy Garcia in that one, in my opinion.

Harrison Ford was gorgeous, he hit his absolute peak in The Temple of Doom but was still lovely for decades after.

Unlike some of the pretty boys he’s aged well.

He was handsome in Fandango which was circa mid 80s but he has always had quite a mature look about him.

Well, I mean, when watching RH it would have to be Alan Rickman for me but there’s nothing wrong with a Costner crush!

Is anyone else sad that they can't watch No Way Out again because it is just not the same a 2nd time?

It's been so long since I've seen it I've forgotten a lot. Might watch tomorrow as picking ds1 up today from a party. Don't fancy watching it with him. He's an adult but I don't like watching sex scenes with dcs in the room. He's probably back at work tomorrow and back home?

I was full on, flat out obsessed with him in Robin Hood Prince of Thieves. Had his poster on my bedroom wall and everything 😁 and then I saw him in the Untouchables where he wears a 3 piece suit in every scene and I just about DIED. Andy Garcia too - god what a treat. Brilliant film

See, DD has a slight obsession with AR and did NOT stop going on about him throughout the whole film. So methinks she has a crush on him… which would explain why she thinks my Kev crush was weird.
There is absolutely no competition, personality or talent wise in that film!
I read that KC was in such high demand that they shot RHPOT in high speed as he was between shoots for Dances With Wolves and JFK and the British weather added lots of time pressures. Watching it again, you can kind of see that!

You can see that but I really don’t care. FWIW I think Costner stood out like a sore thumb in that movie but that was mostly because of his accent. still one of my favourite movies of all time, guaranteed to make me laugh out loud and I do love KC. I also love that the movie made my home a worldwide destination

Yes. Was watching him in Hidden Figures yesterday and thinking how it was a similar role to Jim Garrison in JFK. I never fancied him but he's completely fanciable.
