So we go to a soft play centre yesterday because it's raining and I want DS to get his exercise so we can avoid tantrums.
He disappears onto the frame. Hooray. I feed DD and decide that I've not seen DS for five minutes so I go to find him. He's holed up in some corner with eight other kids, staring at Peppa Pig on a big screen. Great. Tantrum ahoy as I try to persuade him to come with me to run about on the soft play frame.
I speak to a member of staff asking if they can turn off the telly and they say no because another parent asked for it to be on. I say we could watch TV at home where I don't need to pay. My DS is here to run about and he's hypnotised by Peppa Pig and he's going to have a tantrum if I haul him off - well, wouldn't you? She still wouldn't turn it off. Why would any parent ask for TV on at a soft play centre? Go home and watch TV surely?
I give up. Whose side are they on?
