I cannot believe that this lad is going to spend a year in prison- yes, I know that’s the law there, he should have known better etc, etc
I hope that the girl’s mother is ashamed of her actions.
I don’t want to think what the impact will be on Marcus 😥

Yes - probably.
I looked him up because there are lots of posts on this thread speculating about the age gap and my dh subscribes to the website.

Interesting that the Mail article you mentioned earlier states he said they had consensual sex in his hired car. You can't hire a car in Dubai unless you're 21.
No idea how that occurred but maybe the authorities thought he was older than he actually is. Speculation obviously but that detail of hiring a car doesn't make sense. I have sympathy for him. I know that PPs are vociferous in their disgust for the mother, but the same article also makes it clear that there is confusion over whether she claimed 'forced rape' and that the daughter was aggressively manhandled or whether in fact those details were errors in translation. The mother reported to the British Embassy, they in turn reported to the Dubai police force. There seems to be a lack of clarity on the way the events actually played out. Doesn't seem like there was ever a chance of justice being carried out fairly. Having read some of the other cases on Detained in Dubai I am gobsmacked. Life imprisonment for carrying your own, legal, medication prescribed by your Dr in your home country - Detained and facing prison for sending 'threatening' emojis - Detained and facing prison for leaving a critical Google review. It may well be the law there, but the place is insane. Maybe the high profile nature of this case will cause people to think before they visit.

Who is his local MP? Could he get this discussed in parliament? Sometimes they are more accessible than the (useless) foreign secretary.

Oh please the goverment does not care, when will you all realise the UAE has more influence over the UK than we do over them. Marcus broke the law of that land is stuck their and there is nothing you can do about it.

Labour and Lammy wont touch this with a barge pole as they are still panicing that the UAE could pull investment from the UK.

Marcus is guilty as charged and is staying there end off, in a few weeks you will all have a new story of the day to rally round. You need to open your blinkers hes not important.

How cynical and I don’t understand why you want to undermine efforts to make noise about Marcus’ case and hopefully get him home quickly

DP World is still planning the fifth, sixth and seventh berths at London Gateway to expand the port later this decade. You think labour are going to jepodise this for some randy guy who cant keep his dick in his pants 😂

Calm down. I was only answering the pp who asked who is the MP for Tottenham.

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 30/12/2024 23:03

A couple of posters actually seem quite gleeful about this man's sentence. Like they are really enjoying pointing out the law and how much they couldn't give a shit.

Hopefully their own perfect kids will never fuck up and find themselves needing compassion in others Sad

Email him all you like, he is on a leash. Labour is desperate to prove they can improve the economy and little old Marcus is not going to be a hill to die on for them. Why rock the boat for a criminal.

My lovely mum died 15 years ago and would have absolutely despised your point of view. Tell me, why did you choose to resuscitate a username you last used in 2022 to comment on this thread?

The mothers a vile vindictive cow who snooped through her daughters private messages, invented a violent forced rape report against him once they were safely back in the UK and won’t have a seconds remorse for what she’d done just he side her little princess dared to have sex.

Let’s be honest here, his biggest crime in the mothers eyes is that he’s guilty of being black.

How do you know the girl isn’t black?

And calling a woman a ‘cow’ doesn’t make you a good person.

He broke the law of the country he was in on a supposed family holiday. Should have kept it zipped.

Because it’s been reported on repeatedly!

Defending this woman’s vindictive actions most certainly does not make you a good person.

Actually, I thought your previous posts about leaving negative reviews for businesses were of some relevance, as that would put you at risk of criminal conviction if you ever travelled to Qatar.

If that happened to you, I'd think it outrageous, but based on this thread you'd presumably think it fair enough.
