Any recommended home solution please? I was just ready to head to our big Tesco and DH reminded me that’s it Sunday so everywhere is closed 🙈

Do you have a nit comb? You could put conditioner in comb through thoroughly this evening until you can get to a chemist tomorrow.

Unfortunately no nit comb or any comb. We’ve never had to use one. I might try conditioner and a shower cap… till midnight when Tesco will hopefully open.

I wouldn’t think Tesco would open until the morning.

withsexypantsandasausagedog · 29/12/2024 19:10

I wouldn't bother going at midnight, just go tomorrow in the morning.

SulkySeagull · 29/12/2024 19:11

Do you have any close friends locally you could ask to borrow a nit comb from?

That won't do anything. The condioner just helps you comb them out. Just leave them be until tomorrow.

There will be a 24 hour chemist somewhere near you

Late night pharmacy?
Local fb group to see if any has some spare you can buy off them - I have loads as I stockpiled when my son was getting them regularly and we blitz them to death one summer holiday.

Hankunamatata · 29/12/2024 19:14

Olive oil preferably with teatree oil added. Soak hair, wrap in clingfilm and leave overnight.

OatFlatWhiteForMePlease · 29/12/2024 19:21

I would ask family and friends of anyone has a comb/treatment. Most areas also have a 24hr pharmacy.

TwentyTwentyFive · 29/12/2024 19:23

Google late night pharmacy they will have nit combs and treatments although in my experience conditioner and combing is the best strategy.

44PumpLane · 29/12/2024 19:24

I agree you should ask friends. Nots recently went round the kids class and we have ended up with 4 of the nit combs from boxes of Vamousse, and half a bottle of the Nit Shampoo left over too- if you were a friend I'd pop it over to you.

Hi
As a primary school teacher I was plagued by head-lice. Head over a large white towel and brush your hair for three to five minutes. This will loosen the lice. Then wet hair and over the bath condition and brush again. Rinse off. I never used a nit comb or products. Repeat for three days. Hope this helps 🙏

SnowyIcySnow · 29/12/2024 19:31

I'd condition and brush with whatever you have, then use straighteners as close to the scalp as you can.
Go buy a (nit) comb when the shops open on monday morning. I very much doubt tesco will open at midnight. 6am maybe.

mumbruh · 29/12/2024 19:46

Hair dryer hot heat

PetuniaK · 30/12/2024 10:02

Thank you all. Straight to Tesco for opening at 6am. Bought all of the potions and sprays 😂 Heads all a lot less itchy. The special nit comb (with a lot of conditioner) was brilliant. Will repeat in the next couple of days 🙏

See this nhs link for best sort of time gaps for nit removal. 1,5,9,13 and a check on day 17 to ensure you catch newly hatched nits before they can reproduce.
