To not want clothes as a Christmas present?

Of course it is very kind that dmum buys me presents for Christmas. But often she will buy clothes that aren’t things I’d wear. I already have a wardrobe overflowing with clothes that I don’t wear and have been making an effort to buy a few high quality pieces rather than lots of run of the mill/cheap clothes.

It’s not that I’m ungrateful but I really wouldn’t buy myself jeans from bon marche or shoes from M&S. I’d buy two pairs of £150 jeans and wear them for 4 years or a pair of leather boots and get them resoled etc.

Say that they don't fit and return. But I would point out M&S shoes are decent

I hate being bought clothes too. Unless you know the person's style well and they have given you their size, it's so easy to get wrong. I have a family member who buys me big thick woolly jumpers every year in a size 22 and I'm a 14. It took a few years of me asking them not to buy me clothes until this year they eventually gave me a voucher. I would tell her they don't fit and ask for the receipt to return.

I can top that, my mum gave me a tablecloth she proudly told me cost £2.50 from one of her local charity shops.

She's always, always used tablecloths. But honestly, I'm not that bothered, and quite frankly, have not every really expressed an opinion about tablecloths one way or the other.

Declutter your wardrobe, return this year’s gifts (M&S is great because you can always exchange for yummy food), and talk to her later in the year about not wanting/needing any more clothes.

My partner does this and I'm not a fan. It's very expensive designer stuff like Versace dresses but I don't like clothes as gifts, like I'll buy my own clothes thank you!
