Hate visitors

I enjoy going out with my friends but i dislike people coming to my house. This stems from when i was a child. My mum would constantly have people over and they wouldn't know when to leave. I would get disturbed in the night as my mum's visitors would still be there and they would be making a din. Once i was really poorly with a virus and my mum was more bothered about her visitors.

Same. I get so stressed having visitors, making sure the house is clean, we have enough food and drink plus catering for the different tastes and preferences. Plus waiting on people constantly, not being able to sit down and relax. And worst of all, having to stay up later than I would like!

If I have enough warning, I tolerate visitors. I like to make the house look presentable and tidy.
Its normally DH's old school friends who I have issue with. We only see them about once a year. Christmas Eve, 1 texts DH saying he is passing by and will call in at 7:30pm!!! WTF. I had to get dressed again and was already busy enough prepping for Christmas. DH texted to clarify if he meant that night and who he was bringing- no response. We waited and waited- and he never turned up! 😡

Today, another friend popped in. I was working and we had plans this afternoon. Their 30mins stay turned into 3hrs!

Yes, too much like hard work, esp at Christmas. All these people entertaining 12-15 people - where do they live? Couldn't fit any more than 6-8 max and only if absolutely unavoidable

Me too, I hate having people in my house. I can cope with 1 day/night, but that's it.

I probably wouldn't mind so much if visitors stayed for an hour but they insist on staying for ages. When my cousin visits she moans if there is a crum on the floor. Once she came round to watch a film. She started complaining that she could not hear the telly. I much prefer going out for a coffee or a nice meal. When i go out with people i find it far easier to make my excuses if i need to get away for some reason. It is far more relaxing when i am out as my home isn't on display.

We tend to be the ones that host, and we want to and take pleasure in the fact people love coming to ours. But there’s nothing like having the house to yourself when everyone has left.
