Positive then negative test

Ok so again following on from my absolute shitshow of a relationship I managed to leave. He is still on the run at the moment police haven’t been able to find him.
However my life just gets worse and worse. So iv been feeling really shitty lately and tonight decided to do a test.. a got a faint positive. I did one immediately after using the same sample and it was negative?! I went straight to the women’s hospital a+e who tested me and said it was negative but if I haven’t got my period in 2 weeks I need to retest.

I don’t understand why it would be positive then again be negative straight after?? My miscarriage would have been 4 weeks ago today and iv had unprotected sex with him from around a week after until I left him on Friday last week. I did test 2 weeks after my miscarriage and I was back down to a negative test and my HCG was low enough to be signed off.

has anyone had this or similar? I’m the world’s biggest idiot for ending up in this situation. Either way the baby will be fine if I am pregnant but it would be the best thing for me not to be given how it’s worked out!

im using the AIBU poll to see if people think am I being unreasonable to assume this could be a new pregnancy?? The hospital wernt very helpful in explaining what it could be.

Why did you go to A&E?

There is dye bleed on the strip, that could track down the indent and create a line, there is even pink just to the left of the ‘max’ wording and also below it, so I’d just assume the test is flooded and you’ve got a false line. It’s also more grey than pink tbh. If you’ve got a negative with the same sample I’d say you aren’t pregnant.
Re test using FMU, be mindful of how long/deep you dip the test into the sample, and read the test in the time frame given so you know for sure.

Because iv just had a miscarriage a few weeks ago, plus iv just left severe DV so had to make she as my post states.

Those test strips aren’t the most accurate ones, and the fact the tests have been negative, you can feel relieved that you’re not pregnant. Realistically there are 2 options, 1) you had some remaining hormones left over from the pregnancy or 2) it’s a defective test.

Your period will take a while to get back to normal after a miscarriage.
