Need a suit urgently for my son. Thought id be able to get one in the sales. Does anyone else have this problem. Tall ( over 6 foot) but very very slim. Basically need 28 inch waist but 34 inches at least in the leg length. Also as hes young (19) would like a young style preferably blue. Im finding that 28 waist means far too short. We cant be the only ones with this problem.help!

My son is 6'5" and has to have suits for school We get the 32/35 slim fit from Next which I think is the smallest waist in the extra long length. I think long (33" leg) start at 30 waist though. DS just has a belt and wears them quite low on his hips to get extra leg length (he needs a 36" ideally) Buy Black Slim Fit Suit Trousers from the Next UK online shop

Another vote for Slaters, their alterations service is fantastic, regardless of if you're paying £100 or £500, it's almost a bespoke service. Made my nephew who autistic and very socially awkward feel really at ease when we took him for a suit for our wedding

You need a website called 2tall.com
its for tall men that are not also large! Recently discovered by myself and a few friends with over 6’ skinny teenage boys! They have suit trousers in the sale, I’ve been looking this morning!

Aparecium · 26/12/2024 13:43

Slaters. Price includes tailoring the suit to fit. They did a very good job for my 6'3" boy. He has 34" inseam, massive thighs and a slim waist. They tailored trousers, waistcoat and jacket beautifully for him.

Cherrysoup · 26/12/2024 13:48

Another one who says Next. One of my tall super slim sixth form boys was wearing the same Next suit (different buttons on the male/female version) as me last week.

Marks and Spencer

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 26/12/2024 13:54

Slaters. Like bravissimo for teenagers in need of suits. They look at them and like magic know exactly what size they need, for them and then if needed sort any alterations which will be free of charge.

JohnofWessex · 26/12/2024 14:01

I got one for my oldest now 22, same dimensions as me, just the other way round at M&S

I think you get jacket and trousers separately

lanadelgrey · 26/12/2024 14:11

Both M&S and Next as you buy the two bits separately to make the suit and they have slim, normal and baggier in trouser styles so you can mix and match

mamaduckbone · 26/12/2024 17:12

ASOS. They have every permutation

CMOTDibbler · 26/12/2024 17:37

I have found ASOS the best for my slim and very tall ds. Their search can be rubbish, but they have great discounts

Definitely Next, I got my 6'4 son kitted out there quickly and easily.
You will probably be better looking at a 30 waist and either have it taken in or put a belt on.

The thing is , a ‘30 inch’ waist (given today’s generous sizes, 30 inches can be much more in reality) can be absolutely ludicrous on a genuinely slim teen.

Prior to our successful Slaters visit, we tried to get DS (a genuine 26 inch waist at that point) some trousers in a more mainstream shop. Thinking slim or skinny fit would be best, and with 30 inches the most widely available smaller waist in Long, he tried on a number of pairs, with a belt. The best description I can think of is ‘poor quality parsnip’ - bulbous and weirdly puckered at the top, long thin tapered root-shaped legs.

Normal fit with very small waist in genuinely long length looked MUCH better.

Even in his mid 20s, DS is not a ‘modern’ 30 inch waist, though his more vintage finds in charity shops in that size tend to be closer to his proper waist measurement. Like female sizes, high street men’s sizes are more ‘vanity’ than ‘true to body measurements ’ these days.

Thankyou so much. Had never heard of Slaters. Live very rural. Will definitely have a better idea now. We had tried a 30 inch waist from next. It didnt look good. Wish i could fatten him up a bit but he just keeps growing upwards.

I was going to suggest next, but online, not in store.

CosyRoby · 27/12/2024 00:45

Try ASOS
they do really small guys sizing
XXS etc

KarenG · 27/12/2024 01:13

I’ve got a suit that sounds like what you need, that was my son’s prom suit. I got the (matching) jacket and trousers individually on eBay.

Workisntworking · 27/12/2024 02:04

We went to Suits Direct.
Assistant took one at my tall skinny son and knew what would fit. We were in and out in less than 20 minutes.
We'd spent the previous day in M&S and Next unable to find the right combination of sizes.
