Neighbour above stomps. WWYD

I live in a block of flats. Neighbour above is heavy footed and it seems that he just stomps around all day. In fact, it's more like marching. Marching and stomping. I hear it at random times in the day.

I went up once, when my baby was 2 months old (she's now 6 months) and politely let this couple know that I can hear stomping all day long. The woman was a bit of an ass (I don't know why). He was apologetic and said he's been trying to wear slippers etc so his footsteps aren't as loud (but I could hear it anyway). Honestly it was quiet for about two weeks then it started again, and I haven't complained since because I keep thinking it'll be fine.

What I don't get is the previous neighbours were of quite big build, with a toddler and I never heard a peep?!!? I literally heard the blender go off maybe twice in the span of a year. I also never heard their washing machine but this couple seems to do their washing at midnight like clockwork and I can hear it from my kids room when I resettle her.

I'm a SAHM of two under 4, I cannot be arsed hearing this shit all day. Like right now I'm lying in bed with both kids, all unwell, and his 'walking' (stomping) is going right through my fucking ears.

I thought of notifying building management but I didn't want to complain about them if they're not being particularly antisocial or anything more serious. Sometimes I'll be sat with baby and the stomping will restart. Goes right through me. Sometimes I don't know if it's stomping or someone trying to open my front door (never that but cos of the noise, I'm on edge).

I appreciate he's not doing it on purpose but surely that doesn't mean I have to hear this. WWYD?

DH says I need to get over it. It is what it is. But it doesn't seem fair. If it was sometimes and not too loud, fair enough. But this is STOMP quiet STOMP STOMP STOMP quiet STOMP STOMP. Like a toddler having a strop.

You need to make a list or li dates and times when this noise occurs then contact eiter your localncouncilor housing association as this noise is not only disturbing for you its alo disturbing your vry young children.

If they are renting, they should be threatened with eviction unless they keep the noise down.

Have they changed the flooring?

What if they counter complain about you and noise kids make. He is only walking after all. I think you need to get out rhe house more. You're lucky you don't have students upstairs partying.

TBF most people aren't in bed resting at 11am on a weekday so he's probably not worrying about noise at that time. If all he's doing is walking around it's possible there's an issue with the flooring/sound proofing for it to be so disruptive. Are you spending more time at home since you had your second kid so are noticing it more? Wrt the washing machine, that's late to be using it. Most leaseholds limit times for using appliances eg not between 10.30 pm and 6.30 am, so check if yours does and if so ask the management company to send out a reminder letter.
