Ok, heres what happens. We put dd who is 4.5 yrs to bed. Daddy lieson thebed with her whilst Mummy reads the story. Daddy NEVER reads the story. Then dd wants Daddy to stay with her. 'Just 5 minutes' he says.

I then don't see him as he falls asleep within minutes and probably before dd does.

Hewillresurface at about 8-8.30 or when I go andwake him up.

However, it would be nice if he didn't fall asleep with her and left her to fall asleep by herself. Or sit with her and then come down after 5 minutes as planned.

Oh, and I get blamed for him falling asleep and then waking up 2 hours later.

I do go up after 10-20 minutes alot of the time and he goes 'Yeah ok' and then still doesn't move his lazy a**e.

My DP is like that. Tells me to wake him up after half an hour and then either doesn't move for 2 hours or doesn't move at all

say you have to do something - housework, toilet visit, cook - and MAKE him read the story.

HappyNewYearFeet06 · 01/05/2008 19:48

I should do. He has never read to her, well maybe once or twice that I can remember. I don;t mind reading the story.

I mind that he falls asleep.

I'm off to wake him up now. I'll let you know how he is!

Leave him there all night - have a relaxing bath, super dinner, watch a good film.

EffiePerine · 01/05/2008 19:51

Is he particularly tired?

My housemate used to fall asleep in front of the telly every single night. So every night I'd have to wake her up, usually several times, and make sure she got to bed okay, because I thought spending the night on our (small!) sofa would be uncomfortable and involve waking with a bad neck.

It used to piss me off, partly because I would usually be chatting to her for a while before noticing she hadn't bothered to stay awake and partly because I didn't see why I should be responsible for another adult getting to bed. Then I decided not to be responsible and stopped bothering to wake her up. She doesn't fall asleep on the sofa any more.

Just leave him. It's not your job to wake him and make sure he's awake!

HappyNewYearFeet06 · 01/05/2008 20:58

No, he is not tired. He is always asleep!

I woke him just before 8 and he asked what the time was so I told him. He moaned at me and then stayed there for another half an hour!

He sleeps until 1pm on a weekend if I let him.
