Very basic Yule log question

Sorry, I am posting for traffic.

I am wanting to make a white chocolate yule log as I can never seem to get the milk/dark chocolate ones right. A friend shared an article which suggests I am probably using too good a dark chocolate even though all recipes suggest this. I haven’t got the capacity to play around with chocolate so have decided to go with whit chocolate and raspberry this year. My lot are into
that sort of pudding.

My question: can I just take a normal milk/dark chocolate recipe and substitute white chocolate where needed. Or will this mess up timings etc if it cooks quicker or I don’t know.

There aren’t many highly rated white chocolate Yule logs

I bake tray bakes quite often but stay away from cakes tbh.

I make a normal chocolate yule log every year, but my recipe doesn't have any chocolate in the sponge part, only cocoa, so your question is confusing.

Sorry if my reply is too late for you! This is the one I've been using for years.

I simplify it by not bothering with the cutting a section off to make the side bit. We've also found that the amount of icing (ganache) given is way too much, so I halve it.
It's delicious, the sponge is very light, and quite easy except maybe for the rolling it up bit.
For anyone else reading who's never made one before, you do need a Swiss roll tin (30x35cm or similar)

Mary Cadogan’s yule chocolate log will go down a treat with everyone. This festive bake is a lighter version than most.

Nigella’s one is perfect - not bitter at all

I use nigellas one (https://www.nigella.com/recipes/yule-log) as well and it’s always come out well. It doesn’t have chocolate in the sponge though.

I like this recipe too, and it never fails. I agree with you about there being too much
ganache and I reduced the quantities here as well.
