So...i brought a silver cross pushchair for my dd on easter bank holiday monday from john lewis. received it on the wednesday, by following thursday the footrest had come off, very strange as my dd's feet don't even reach it. it was sent off for repair and i received a new one yesterday from john lewis as the other couldn't be repaired, so nearly 4 weeks after it was first sent away.
you can imagine my horror when crossing a busy road to day, one of the back wheels fell off!
john lewis have said i can swap it for a different pushchair but i'd rather have my money back! is this un-reasonable?? don't know where i stand on refunds but im very narked-and have to now carry my dd in a sling til i can get the spare one from my mum's!

Just talk to JL and say under the circumstances you would like your money back.

They are normally very good with this sort of thing.

tootiredtothink · 01/05/2008 18:52

Get a refund!!! If the item you bought is not fit for use (which clearly it isn't) then legally you are entitled to a full refund.

hascas · 01/05/2008 18:54

I am pretty certain you can demand a refund because the pushchair isn't fit for purpose and is clearly faulty. It's not like you changed your mind about the colour! I would definitely call them back and say you want a refund.

nobodysfool · 01/05/2008 18:55

Go into your local store on a busy shopping day and speak to them then.If you don't get anywhere at first just talk louder about how useless the pushchair is and how bad the customer service is at John Lewis.
I did the same with a faulty car seat i bought from there and it's amazing how quickly you will get a refund

lardylumps · 01/05/2008 19:07

Under the "sale of goods act" you are entitled to a refund as the goods you purchased are not fit for the purpose you bought them for.

scottishmummy · 01/05/2008 19:13

they fully refunded me for a faulty bugaboo bee. have had 2 in 2wks, on both occasions the frame wouldn't fully open. i went to nursery dept - nursery adviser

callmeovercautious · 01/05/2008 19:17

Just take it back, they will be fine. You are within your rights and they will know that.

lydiathetattooedlady · 01/05/2008 19:30

JLewis nursery Returns info
To return an item after delivery, take it to the appropriate department in a John Lewis shop. You'll need your final summary as proof of purchase - this lists the items which have been purchased. If you don't have the summary, contact your Nursery advisor at the branch holding your list before you attempt to return the item. Find your branch telephone number or email addresshere

How did it go?

lydiathetattooedlady · 02/05/2008 21:21

2GIRLS · 02/05/2008 21:42

They can't say no, the item is faulty and they have to give you a refund. The 28 day thing doesn't apply to faulty goods.
But there'll probably be no problem as JL are usually good like that anyway.

LittleMissMuffett · 02/05/2008 21:59

I agree with 2GIRLS the item is faulty, then need to give you a replacement or full money back. No questions asked! If then don't you can fight on health and safety grounds, a quote your consumer rights to them. JL are pretty good.
