Safeguarding and conspiracy theorists to report?

This is a difficult one. I have name changed because my previous posts might out where I work.

I work in a secondary school supporting Y7. One of the other support staff says he is a ‘conspiracy theorist’. He talks about this stuff openly. His Facebook which is public is all about this stuff. He puts forward his views to the students in lessons with them. Any news events he interprets in the framework of ‘new world order’ etc. Often this isn’t in hearing of the class teachers.

Sometimes he wears a t shit that says ‘I identify as a conspiracy theorist, my pronouns are ‘told’ ‘you’ ‘so’.

I get it that we should encourage free speech and debate, but if it was one of the kids coming out with the things he says I would be thinking that they needed support.

if I said anything it would be very obvious. Do any of you know if a member of staff bringing these beliefs in to work is a safeguard matter or will I just look like someone who isn’t in to free speech?

There are a LOT of people now believing this stuff, I work with a vocal supporter of it. Fortunately, it is not in the educational environment.
We get bombarded daily with his beliefs. If it comes from mainstream, he doesn't believe it.
He just says everything he says comes out eventually, and everything gets hidden from us it's all online though and we don't know shit as 'they' want to control us.

My colleague holds these views and she works with young children. She doesn't impose them on the kids though. It's is a bit scary. During Covid she used to laugh at her DH's ideas and now over the past 4 years, she's bought into it. We used to have good chats about the world but I can't anymore.

Anyway, suffice to say if she started on the Bill Gates stuff with the 4yos I would be reporting her.

He's a teacher who wears a t-shirt to work that says his pronouns are 'told you so'?!
That literally doesn't make sense in the English language. I'd be concerned about his intelligence levels. Have parents made any comments or complaints about him?
As for his conspiracies, they certainly shouldn't be presented as fact in terms of his job teaching/guiding kids, if at all.
Teachers should be as neutral as possible politically, religiously etc around their students. While teaching about different perspectives in a balanced way.
Do you think he'd accept feedback from you or would it need to go higher up?

He is support staff rather than a teacher. The stuff about the new world order is like a religion to him. He believes it is fact and tells the kids that when discussions come up revolving round politics, history etc. it is not about playing devils advocate, he firmly believes this stuff and tells anyone who disagrees that they are stupid, brainwashed etc.

Think back to September when you should have done your PREVENT training again.

It said it in there, didn't it?

He's a bit vague but overall he's not far off. Anyone who knows anything about politics and history knows this.

She's not going to say what the theories are. I bet it's that he thinks covid escaped from a lab in Wuhan. Remember when people said only crackpots believed that and it was censored on every SM platform?

Scottsmumof3 · 22/12/2024 20:23

He argues that Putin is the good guy, the only one who understands the situation. He argues that there is an elite, new world order and that we are all brainwashed by the media. The elite are encouraging immigrants to flood the country as a strategy to deport the people… The government are watching us… etc etc. We have kids in school who are Ukrainian refugees.

The latest one is that the chemical they're giving cows to stop them farting Co2 was invented by Bill Gates. The purpose is to get it into OUR bodies via consumption of dairy products and then he can brainwash us to do his will. My colleague (who has a degree!) said Bill Gates is evil. But of course Mainstream Media won't tell us such things!
