Worried about DD’s cavity

Hi all. Hoping for some reassurance. DD 6 has a tooth the dentist has been monitoring for a cavity for nearly a year. He put some fluoride paste on it and at the last checkup it hadn’t got any worse. I’ve been diligent about keeping it very clean and keeping at eye on it and it looked ok to me, but last night when I looked, it’s actually got a small hole in it so I’m pretty sure it will need filling. I’m obviously upset and feel like all parents I’m sure in thinking that she doesn’t have much sugar and brushes her teeth twice a day etc, but it obviously hasn’t been enough. Will make some changes like less snacking throughout the day, but I’m really worried about the actual process of her having a filling. Does anyone know if it’s like an adult filling? I.e, will she need an injection etc? Thanks in advance.

Baby tooth? I wouldn't stress too much. Dc 11 has similar issue with a baby tooth we are waiting to fall out

I’m also dreading what my mum will say, I’m sure it will be ‘I told you so’ and raised eyebrows. DD apparently tried her luck when my parents had her the other day and went and helped herself to juice out of the fridge. I can’t remember the last time she had juice before then, but my mum now obviously thinks she’s chugging down juice regularly!

Yes, but the second to back one which it appears won’t fall out for another few years. Worried if we leave it she could end up with a worse problem, though I’m probably unnecessarily worried x

We are going to get dc pulled but they did offer to fill it so I'd go with that option

Do whatever the dentist advises.
If you are describing yourself as a bad parent because of a tiny cavity, I think you need a reality check.
I had all my teeth pulled out at the age of 16, due to massive, multiple holes and blood poisoning from infected abcesses on my gums.
THAT is bad parenting !!
Oh, and at my 21st birthday, in front of my family and friends, my mother made a speech about how annoying it was that I'd repeatedly left the cap off the toothpaste as a child - I had been desperately cleaning my teeth every time I ate to try and prevent the pain from the cavities.
So no, you're fine.
