AIBU to think that we need some Xmas songs about rain?

I'm sitting here listening to Christmas songs from Amazon Music and wondering why we always celebrate snow at Christmas, seeing as most of us don't see it then. We need some songs about drizzly rain, mud, grey skies, and wind. Christmas lights flickering as the rain pours down, etc. etc.

Why don't we have them? AIBU in thinking this?

It doesn’t really invoke the same imagery; does it? There’s something exciting and clean and sparkly about snow. There’s not much fun or excitement in drizzly rain and grey skies… and it’s not really “festive”, as it’s basically British weather for half the year.

We have Rudolf the rednosed rain deer.

The best I can do for you is this.

Ironically, for what is surely a very British song, the band is from San Francisco.

We have songs about spring rain. You can’t have it all.

They said there’d be snow at Christmas, they said there’d be peace on earth, but instead it just kept on raining, a veil of tears for the virgin birth.

YANBU at all OP, and I think that's why 99% of Christmas songs strike a bum note with me. Sparkling frost and deep snow and jingling sleighbells have nothing to do with our experience of Christmas in lowland England, and it all seems a bit fake.

I'd like to hear more songs about the sun returning, and greenery- like a modern day version of "The Holly and the Ivy", or something.

I work in early years and this is a big issue. Kids believe it will snow at Christmas and then are disappointed. For winter themes or Christmas themes all our resources are snow related. I made a big point this year of not doing any snow related stuff and instead discussed frost and cold wind etc. Both my colleagues are from overseas and a few weeks ago I went to great lengths to explain that it never snows where we are and we are supposed to reflect the immediate world the children inhabit so it's not appropriate to focus on snow. And then it snowed the next day and I looked like a fool. My point still stands though!

This has actually just struck something with me in the list of active conversations. Yes!! A beautiful, fun song about raining at Christmas and how we all get on and have fun and actually don’t need the snow because it’s about family and togetherness. I love this. Might write a song (probably won’t…)

The other day I was looking out of the window at the Christmas lights in our front garden through the trails of rain running down the windowpane and thinking how pretty it was. I would LOVE a Christmas song which evoked that!. Also agree with the pp's point that songs re evergreen foliage are the way to go. It just makes every Christmas feel an anti climax if all media makes it based on climatic conditions we very rarely get!
