People who drink are even more annoying at Christmas?

I mean, some drinkers are always annoying - “it’s only one” “aren’t you toasting” “loosen up you boring bugger” etc. we all know them.

But by God they’re worse at Christmas. Unsatisfied unless everyone’s drinking, plastered the entire day, insisting on buying people alcohol for presents even though they know they don’t really drink. It’s just frustrating, I think far more drinkers have a problem than know it or admit it.

I know several that particularly annoy me by being being superior about other things especially at Christmas - like one of my friends has a joint every now and then, which I’m not saying is a good thing, but honestly put me in a room full of stoners over drinkers any day, less loud, less aggressive and less likely to punch anyone. (No crime comments please, it’s legal in multiple countries and much of this non criminally made stuff is what’s here, can even buy directly online and loads of people grow one plant of their own so just stop with the slave trade stuff). I don’t smoke it myself, just making a point.

They’ll mock the “fatty that can’t stop eating” while downing their 5th glass, yet from everything I’ve read if they swapped booze for mounjaro we’d save about 20bn on the NHS and have less crime, violence and car accidents! 😂

I’m not seriously suggesting everyone should quit, thousands of years of habit isn’t that simple no matter how bad it is or even the fact that medically it’s literally poison!
But stop trying to drag the bloody rest of us into it!! You incredibly dull boozehounds.

I bloody love a drink, but I am not anything like the people in your OP. I agree with everyone else - find better friends.

I agree with everyone else on here - it's the people you know. I often drive to visit friends, so don't drink, and have never experienced this. My family are actually big drinkers, but they all always have 'posh' soft drinks for the non-drinkers, and my nephew makes some great non-alcoholic cocktails.

I would find it hard to be around people like this, and even worse to be around stoners (SO boring). There are better friends out there.

Why don't you want to join in, even without a drink you could play a family game?

she’s told us these people are aggressive, there is a risk of violence, the risk of a punch she said, she tells us they mock and call people , her I guess, fatties,

we are advising going nc due to the detail in the op not simply as they are big drinkers, I am confused why you’d think that?

I drink as do all friends, I literally don't know one single person who behaves like that, so as other posters have said, it's just your circle of friends.

I guess I feel that being hungover is an error of judgement (drinking to excess) rather than fun loving letting their hair down

So, I feel those errors of judgement are more understandable in younger people

If I see older people drunk / under the influence, I don't think "bet they're having fun". I do think it's lame. That's just my view. I don't mind if you feel differently

I don't know anyone like this. Just had works do, was about 50 / 50 drinking, noone cared. Off out with friends tonight, two of them are driving, again noone cares.
