How are you wrapping it?

A single layer of wrapping just so it touches the present and can be ripped off easily? Or two layers so you can have a bit of fun? Massive arguments about this, I need help

Single layer, surely? Are people double wrapping??

Jingleberryalltheway · 18/12/2024 21:44

Single layer! I don’t understand why you want more rubbish.

ForeverPombear · 18/12/2024 21:45

I've never known anyone to double wrap.

GrumpyCactus · 18/12/2024 21:45

People double wrap? Literally never heard of anyone doing this ever, one layer is plenty surely??

SallyWD · 18/12/2024 21:45

Single layer! Double wrapping seems very wasteful to me.

Dragonsandcats · 18/12/2024 21:46

Single layer always. Never thought about. double wrapping.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 18/12/2024 21:46

Never heard of double-wrapping presents. Waste of paper!

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 18/12/2024 21:46

People are double wrapping like pass the parcel?

Wait wait wait. Context. For example, my dad used to put beautiful jewellery in velvet boxes inside old cereal boxes and wrap them multiple times, so by the time you'd unwrapped this mystical thing, you were met with rice crispies and felt mildly peeved, only to delve inside and find... treasure!

Is it like that, or is it... wrapping everything twice for no reason?

LisaD1 · 18/12/2024 21:46

I have no idea why anyone would double wrap, it’s wasteful and pointless.

thistimelastweek · 18/12/2024 21:46

Struggling to see the fun value in double wrapping.

MadnessIsMyMiddleName · 18/12/2024 21:46

Oh dear! Looks like I'm one of the wasteful ones then, as I just roughly measure the paper along the length of the roll, cut it off, and wrap it around whatever, as many times as it goes. Saves ending up with lots of odds and ends, that by the next year only end up crumpled up in the bottom of the bag or box that I store it in.

ForkMeImToast · 18/12/2024 21:51

Single layer. Although for my Secret Santa, my incredibly annoying younger brother (he's 34!), I might wrap using super glue rather than tape in the hopes it will make it more difficult for him. Just need to figure out how I prevent him from just ripping the paper open in the middle. Maybe I'll wrap it in a drawing by his young niblings so he feels bad if he ruins their art work? 🤔

ForkMeImToast · 18/12/2024 21:53

Or maybe I'll wrap it in fabric. I need to think this through!

FeathersMcGrawsRubberGlove · 18/12/2024 21:54

I can't be arsed to measure, so I end up with a layer and a half. Probably wasteful. I dunno. Maybe that is more fun?

Who is double wrapping? What a massive waste of paper and for what?! The environment doesn’t deserve this!

MadameBethune · 18/12/2024 21:59

I’m at the other extreme, I do a sort of Tetris thing to get as many gifts wrapped as possible out of one roll of paper. It pleases me when they fit together and there are just a few scraps left over.

Middlemarch123 · 18/12/2024 22:03

Foil gift backs with ribbon drawstring, game changer. No more running out of paper, no more not being able to find the sellotape or scissors. No more cats sitting on the rolled out paper refusing to move.

Middlemarch123 · 18/12/2024 22:04

Bags, not backs

Gingernaut · 18/12/2024 22:06

Secret Santa - wrapped in bubble wrap to hide the boring shape and then wrapping paper

EveryDayisFriday · 18/12/2024 22:06

Always single layer. I do occasionally patch smaller pieces of wrapping together to fully wrap a gift, like a frankensteins monster. 🧌

MereDintofPandiculation · 18/12/2024 22:08

What's all this about ripping paper off? We've always taken paper off carefully and stored it for re-use. It's a small child's job to collect up all the paper, make sure it's folded nicely, and put it in the bag for next year.

Yes, the usable bit of the paper gets smaller each year, but eventually it's good for wrapping nuts and sugar mice to put in stockings.

Another reason to double wrap the fuck out of your presents. Who wants a small scrap of paper?
