Bored in hospital, need to keep my mind active

Sorry, shamelessly posting here for traffic.

Currently on a surgery ward for monitoring for internal bleeding following a car accident. I'm bored and my mind keeps flashing back to it. We were hit head on, on Saturday night as the other car swerved onto our side of the road. Thankfully we were all able to get ourselves out but it could have been so much worse. The other driver sadly died at the scene.

100% our car and seat belts saved our lives. DD 7 and her friend have minor injuries as they were in their appropriate car seats i'm going to be a huge bore when I get out as I know so many people who have taken the car seats and boosters away.

The ward is boring and cold, I keep switching between flashing back to the accident and thinking about work, letting people down not being there.

No point to this post really. Thanks for reading x

I suffered PTSD after being seriously ill and nearly dying. One of my coping mechanisms was colouring. My Mum bought me several colouring books (aimed at adults rather than children), colouring pencils etc. I spent hours colouring. My Mum did the same after suffering a stroke too. You need something to take away the boredom but also to keep your mind occupied. Please ask for some counselling, as you may find it beneficial to talk through your emotions.

Thanks. I quite like painting once I'm home I'll get the watercolours out.

God what a horrible experience, you must feel so lucky [as well as bored, very upset and everything else in between] especially as the kids are ok.

A friend really recommended Barack Obama's books on Audible. He has a lovely voice but also mimics people and they said it was very entertaining and interesting to listen to on a long drive. Nice to be able to do something that you can close your eyes and rest to as well.

Best of luck with your recovery and have a lovely and peaceful Christmas.

Hoping to be discharged today. Tried some puzzles but can only do a bit at a time as I can't quite focus.
I've been pricing up various holidays... Disney cruise anyone?
I'm focusing on silly details like how I'm going to get the veg for Christmas dinner and how I'm going to cook it. DH is adamant he will do it all but he's fairly bashed up too. I don't know how many times he's told me about the bruise on his bottom. Thankfully he hasn't whatsapped a photo.
Friends and family have been great.
Need to rest for 2-3 weeks at least. I've missed my sons school play today and will miss the panto on Sunday (I had front row tickets).
I've almost got the use of my left hand back so I'll be able to do some painting or card making when I'm home. Any Prime or Netflix recommendations are welcome?
