What Christmas gifts do I want from IKEA?

I have to make a trip to IKEA today. I still need some stocking fillers/small presents so I thought I might brave the Marketplace in search of useful gifts. Ages range from reception age to late 80s with some university age/young couple starting out age in the middle.

AIBU to ask for your recommendations to inspire me and help me make it out of the place without losing my mind or getting sucked into spending a fortune on things I don’t really need 😂

Ginger bread house but don’t forget the icing glue.

Any good kitcheny gadget ideas? Or toys?

I think the supermarkets have better low budget gifts than IKEA.

Their wrapping paper, ribbon and labels has been nice in the past, not been for a while so don't know what it's like this year.

They have a gate-leg dining table that I'd love Santa to shove in my stocking...I suspect it'll get stuck in the chimney. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Those plastic bag clips 😂

They are actually on my list for DIL 😂 She always runs out of them and she loves a good kitchen storage solution 😂 Don’t worry, I’m not that MIL, she has lovely presents too and DS is getting an egg timer, no kitchen sexism here!

Little Daim bars

Mipil · 13/12/2024 23:12

If it’s of any help, @JoshLymanSwagger, if Santa goes to buy your table wearing a Christmas jumper this weekend, he will get £10 off a spend of £50.

None.
The stuff is awful, cheap and utilitarian.

Kids wise - giant colouring sheets, paint blocks (these are excellent), their version of Hama beads, the train sets, the colouring watercolour pencils and extra long paper are all very very good quality and have made excellent gifts in the past.

RobertaFirmino · 13/12/2024 23:58

They do cuddly orangutans, large and small. V. Cute.

Enough of that delicious berry cheesecake to sink a ship

Perfect. Utilitarian and reasonably priced is exactly what I want. We are very much “beautiful or useful” people and I’ve already got the beautiful gifts sorted. Thoughtful, useful and practical stocking fillers are what I am looking for.

There is always one… 😂🙄😂

Thank you to everyone who made helpful suggestions.
