To choose the school I like even though I’d have to stay part time?

I have the (realistic) choice of two primary schools.

One is Church of England, which does matter to us, small, really well led and managed and impressed me on every aspect except no wraparound care, and no childminders available either (I’ve checked.)

The second school is larger, non denominational (I know some people like this but I’d prefer c of e) behaviour not great, bullying a concern, results not very good. But it does have wraparound care.

I would have to significantly reduce my hours in order to have my children attend the first school but it’s much better than the second - AIBU? More of a wwyd.

I'd do it, pick the school you want and arrange your life around it 🙂

Non denominational/religious schools make no difference to me in terms of bullying as it can happen anywhere in my experience.

But if know it's the one, you just have to go for it. Life can change and you may get other opportunities for work and childcare. It doesn't sound like another school will pop up anytime soon.

Best of luck

It would depend on what’s affordable and what you (and your partner if you have one) would be happy with.

If it is financially doable to be part time then I’d go with the school you like, if it’s not financially doable then there’s not a question really.

Also if not married to dad I’d be very wary of going part time for the next 6 years.

Well obviously.

I would say go and visit the two schools and get a feel for them in person. Often things on paper aren’t always the same in reality. You can pick up more about the staff and pupils if you go for a visit during the school day.

Hi - I’ve done so, definitely didn’t like the non church school but I’m conscious nine years (I have two children) is a long time to be part time so feels like a big step in that respect.
