Hair extensions

I keep seeing Ruth Langford looking great. Her hair always looks good. My hair is ok, but could really benefit from some extensions to make it look fuller. It’s currently a bob, all one length and looks good for about an hour after I’ve blow dried it. My fringe is so thin. I’m late 50s. Im
embracing my grey but there isn’t actually that much of it.

how much would a few extensions be?
how long do they last
will they ruin my hair
how do you deal with them, will my brush get stuck in them when I’m drying my hair

I know nothing about them but would love a bit of fullness.

I have a weave for thickness, the hair was about £250 and it's £110 every eight weeks to tighten it. I bought the hair from Euphoria One website. My hair has never been in better condition

Doggymummar · 11/12/2024 20:27

You treat then like ordinary fair, but don't go to sleep with them wet and you need a special soft brush

I have nano rings for length and fullness. I think the hair was around £250 to have fitted. It's £100 approx every 10 weeks to have them moved up.
I love them. Once you get used to them, they feel very natural, it's a bit of an upkeep though. You need to use sulphate feee shampoo/conditioner, serum, a detangling brush, fully dry them after washing... if you do all of this and really look after them, you should get a year or so out of them.

I second all of this. It makes such a difference and is 100% worth it. I have 50 in for thickness (full head is 150).

I use halo extensions, ordered online. No damage to my hair as they are on a thin plastic wire and removable at any time. I put two hairgrips in for extra security and I cut them myself. Spray with dry shampoo to make them look natural.
They are so cheap! Try them as a first step.

How do you get a colour match? Thank you for answering. Do you still get your hair cut when they tighten it.

I go through a special specialist extension shop, she has all the colours there as she makes her own brand and can match you up there and then.
Mine costs around 350 /450 depends on weight and how much you want and then 35 to tell refit every 6 weeks they look amazing and I treat them like my own hair.
The bonus is I only have to wash my hair once a week now so mine is in great condition, well worth a try.

bluebalou · 11/12/2024 20:43

With her brand you can cut them and colour them if you want.

I was curious about these. How did you match the colour? And what happens if there’s a gust of wind? I’d be paranoid about it blowing off.

My lady doesn't do cuts but yes I go to a salon for a cut if I need it. Only once this year. You go and get a colour match with the person who installs it. She gets 25pc discount with the hair people and passes it on.

I have brown hair with highlights and it has been no trouble to match the colour.
it doesn’t mention using hair clips in the instructions, so I use one each side, under my hair to completely secure it.👍

Hi. I might try this first. Do you wear them every day or just when you go out. How long do they stay in for.

A topper might be a good option OP. Especially as you mentioned you have a fringe, then you can get a topper with a fringe, or have one cut into one. They're light weight and can be clipped in yourself, or ringed on like extensions can be. The benefit with them is you can disguise greying roots of you have any, and disguise a visible scalp if your thinning is also on top.

Hi, I don’t wear them every day but certainly regularly. They could be worn every day and they just blend in with my own hair, which is just past shoulder length, but thinner now. They thicken my own hair up nicely.
They stay in all day and night long and I add some hairspray too.

this is exactly what I want. Not so much thinning on top just a very high forehead and a very thin fringe. Thank you
