To think this level in blood is alarming?

Just had blood result back and b12 is 700… this seems very high based on internet reading?! But they’ve said no action needed?

Ferritin is also 61 and I’ve been told to stop taking iron tablets but online it says you need over 100 to feel ‘normal.’

Does anyone have any insight into this as I wasn’t allowed to book an appointment to discuss.

I thought b12 normal is between 200 to 900 depending on the lab, what sites are you looking at, have you got a printed result form that shows the normal ranges

That B12 level is fine. Any you don't need will be excreted in urine.

Thanks

B12 is fine and when my ferritin was 69 I took another box of tablets to get it over 100 which is optimal.

My B12 came back as unreadable because of a vitamin I was taking, it was so high they asked if I was on injections
No issues

You need to look at the range— the figures in brackets. Your figure should ideally be in the highest quadrant. Labs vary so you always need to go by the range.

B12 needs a good level of folic acid to work well in our bodies too.

Both normal. If the doctor said to stop the prescription supplements then you could just up your vitamin/mineral intake through your diet or an OTC supplement (much kinder on the tummy too)

Sortumn · 09/12/2024 18:04

Are you taking B 12?

Yesttterday · 09/12/2024 18:06

@Sortumn no I’ve never taken it
