Calf pain should I be worried?

Had what feels like muscular pain in one calf for a few weeks now. I do a mostly sedentary job so am sat for long periods but I do rush around a lot at home.

Just asked Dh if he could notice any swelling and he said yes one calf (the painful one) is bigger than the other but there is no redness or stabbing pain and it isn't hot to touch. My immediate thought was dvt but I do suffer with health anxiety and always jump to the worst conclusion! Would muscular pain and swelling in this area be a concern for you?

OP, yes muscular pain and swelling in one leg would absolutely be a concern.

I’ve had two DVTs that had no symptoms other than leg pain…

I would get this checked out right away. You could use NHS 111 online ( takes 5 minutes) and follow the advice given

You may well be referred to a service or to A and E to get checked out for a possible blood clot. No one is going to be cross with you if you turn out to be fine. If you’ve gone through the 111 process you’ll know you had a perfectly valid reason to get checked.

i know, I know, it’s a bore, you feel fine and you don’t have the time to go to A and E but a blood clot can be very serious as I’m sure you know.

No one on an internet forum can tell you whether you have a blood clot.

FWIW. I phoned my GP because I had the pain again out of the blue recently ( my blood clots were a few years ago) and she said she couldn’t do anything but tell me to go to A and E where they have all the diagnostic kit. I didn’t have another clot this time but they said I’d been right to come in.

Just to second a couple of other replies, I had a DVT in 2022, my only symptom was pain in my calf.

I'd had the pain for a couple of weeks before getting a GP appointment (tel appointment at that) GP advised me to head to urgent care as she was concerned.

I had no swelling or redness. Blood test and a scan later and diagnosed with DVT
