To think it's creepy to send chocolate anonymously through the post?

And it shouldn't be encouraged.

I think it’s weird and wonder what Cadbury get out of it?
Is it a con where you have to pay postage and packing which is equal to or more expensive than the bar? Or completely free?
Either way, I don’t think I’d eat it.

You buy a bar for someone, pay for postage and they send it anonymously for you - they make money....that's what they get out of it.

Do people really have to see bad in everything? I got one last year, still no idea who it was from but it cheered my day right up.

Even if it's from the creepy perv over the road?

I think some of them are free if you scan a poster and win

i think it's lovely.
a stalker wouldn't need a secret santa campaign to send unwanted items to someone's house...

HornyHornersPinkyWinky · 08/12/2024 21:23

If I liked someone enough to send them chocolate, I wouldn't be sending them Cadburys - tastes like muck these days.

When I was at school you could send a 'last rolo' to whoever you fancied !

pollypocket90 · 08/12/2024 22:16

Chocolate?! I shit you not, about 10years ago I had a pack of knickers posted through my letterbox! Wouldn't have been so bad if they weren't 3 sizes too big 😅 i never did find out who did it and never received anything else thankfully!

Balloonhearts · 08/12/2024 22:19

Um, I'm happy to take any unwanted bars. Y'know in the interest of not freaking people out...

Do you love anyone enough to give them your last rolo.

I remember that advert.

Love the fact school kids adapted it .

Oh this again.
Had it all last year.
Sad

Cadburys get 2 things out of it: publicity and the (sellable) contact details of someone who hasn't consented to give them (the recipient of the chocolate).

No! Do they? That's awful!

It’s a £1 bar of chocolate, if someone wanted to send that for nefarious reasons they could just do that, without going through the rigmarole of getting a Cadbury’s code that actually works. It’s a nice gesture that’s it.

(and when you send it you are asked to confirm that there are no dogs at the property, appreciate someone could lie but it’s not unthought of at all)

People have stalkers and ex's they don't want anything to do with and creepy weirdo neighbours/ work colleagues

They could choose to send them a bar of chocolate any time of the year if they wanted to. If they’re a stalker I don’t think they’re going to wait for Cadburys. This is just another example of something nice being turned into “but what about the….”. It’s tedious.

A bar of chocolate through a marketing campaign is hardly the only option to a stalker. They can find any number of ways to stalk you, find your address, etc.
The over-reaction to simple gestures here is quite phenomonal. No wonder young people don't answer their phone/the door/speak.. they have been terrified into a tiny boring world by hysterical parents

MartinCrieffsLemon · 09/12/2024 13:51

Stalkers aren't just sitting there going "oh I'd love to send them a gift but I just don't know how ... oh look at this advert"

You can't send it to someone without knowing their details anyway

The packaging is clearly Cadbury's

Chocolate can be sent without it being anonymous. If your dogs will eat mail then you need a letter cage or external post box
