Im on a couple of local FB groups.

Last couple of days have people posting photos of cards which are not addressed to them or delivered to the right address.

Does it really need a post to do this? Why not post the card to the address directly or if it’s quite a distance away, pop card in the letter box. Throwing it in the bin is wrong.

Posties are stretched at the moment. Sometimes I get the post for residents of the same door number as me but the next street.

When my parents were away on holiday, i checked their post and a large envelope was there again, same house number and next street along. I went to the address. The man was in the driveway. Explained that it was delivered to the wrong address. Turns out to be their wills.

It’s irrelevant that postmen are ‘stretched’.

People have paid for the post to be delivered to a particular address and that is where the post should go.

If a busy waitress gave you the food for another table you’d say something, not wander around the other tables asking if it’s there’s.

You are right OP. There are only two right answers to this one. Take the post round yourself or put it back in a postbox.

People are 'stretched' in many jobs. They should still do them properly.

Mistakes sometimes happen - just put it back in the post.

Posting about it does rather imply it’s the most exciting thing to happen to the poster that week - which is a bit sad.
