what are your top tips for having a cosy indoor day when its so horrible outside?

Mine are
hot chocolate topped with squirty whipped cream
very warm and fluffy fleecy jumper and socks
and a good Channel 5 Christmas film...

I’ve had hot buttered toast and watched Notting Hill in bed

brbg2g · 07/12/2024 13:05

A good jigsaw puzzle

BeatrizBoniface · 07/12/2024 13:05

I've turned the heating up, got the Christmas lights on and just had a filling high carb lunch, followed by a double Twix.
Now for a good book!

squashyhat · 07/12/2024 13:12

I have just made the first batch of mince pies. Watching bigjet TV at the moment but I'm going to get my waterproofs and wellies on soon for a short walk, then back to get the log burner going, taste-test a mince pie and watch cheesy Christmas films or read.

MoonWoman69 · 07/12/2024 13:12

Candles lit, heating on, Alfred Hitchcock on the TV, watching my tree bend over in the wind! May go up and snuggle with the kittens soon, under my fleecy teddy bedding, freshly made! Then slow roast some belly pork for dinner... I love days like these when I don't have to go out! Hope everyone enjoys their snuggly day at home ❤

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 07/12/2024 13:14

I was sick last weekend so the tree is going up today. But the outdoor lights might have to wait until tomorrow.

Christmas blankets are on the sofa.

weatherisjustmist · 07/12/2024 13:17

Doing some batch cooking. It makes me feel like the day hasn't been wasted!

PearTreeBoat · 07/12/2024 13:19

I dealt with it by moving to a hot country a couple of years ago and although I sometimes miss the wind and rain a tiny bit I certainly don't miss the storms!!

So my day today consisted of a nice relaxing morning doing a couple of chores whilst drinking coffee and listening to a pod cast then a couple of hours on the beach and a late lunch with friends.

Home now with the air con on and trying to decide between a G&T or a glass of wine??

cantthinkofausername26 · 07/12/2024 13:27

Crafting and baking with the kiddos. Absolutely love days like this. Enjoy everyone xx

Stay in and cuddle my dogs (happiness is a warm puppy, lol)

Very true@Purplecatshopaholic !
My Ddog is cuddled up on my legs and we're snuggled under a fluffy blanket, heating is on and the Christmas lights, only thing missing is snack food, some of these posts are making me hungry.

Oh yeah I love getting under a blanket, getting a heavy red wine out like chianti and baking a Camembert, and then light a load of candles and watch Moulin Rouge or Les Mis. Have to wait until the little one goes to bed though.

In the meantime if that YouTube channel where they watch planes trying to land in the wind is on, that’s always a great watch with a cup of tea.

Big Jet TV

Baking.

HauntedBungalow · 07/12/2024 13:37

I like cosy snuggling on the cosy blankets and curling out a cosy hot chocolate on the sofa.

Having to have air con is my idea of hell! I absolutely hate the heat!
We're all different.... 😊

I always feel sorry for posters who feel the need to reply like this.

Why a typing course? Am I missing something?

WeArentInKansas · 07/12/2024 15:41

@Inlimboin50s did you watch that Channel film? What did you think?

Public Service Announcement: Film was called Father Christmas Finds Love for everyone - remember this title and avoid it!

Honestly it was one of the worst Christmas films I've ever seen! Even the beauty of Anna Lynn McCord couldn't save it.

Mr Saved By the Bell is a terrible terrible actor and not suitable for a lead. He had zero chemistry with her.

The plot was appalling. Although to be honest calling it a plot is probably overstating things. What was with all the selling of the clockwork toys (Very random choice of things for the mother to have owned)? What UPS type delivery men give away cardboard boxes for free? why would anyone ask a delivery man (who would, you know, just have parcels in the van) for empty boxes? Her dad the widower was a dreadful actor and looked scared of his job - being to act - all the way through.

The choreography in the christmas show was a bit of a laugh as it was so bad. That choregrapher should have a Court order prohibiting them from working again. Just consisted of everyone move your hips from side to side very violently and a random arm movement repeated again and again. That bit is actually worth watching as it is SOOOO terribly bad to be funny,

I never want to hear that song Feliz Navidad EVER again. It must have been repeated about 20 times. It was like someone decided the film needed to be a bit longer so given there was no dialogue or plot, I know, let's sing the song again.

What a terrible, terrible film.

Never mind. It's all redeemed by Channel 5 because up next is The Holiday! Yay!

Cat on my lap
Weighted fleece blanket
Put one of DH's hoodies on
Hot chocolate with Bailey's or glass of red wine
Gingerbread scented candle
Christmas tree lights on
New book on Kindle or watch something on NT Home.

JaneJeffer · 07/12/2024 16:06

I don't know what the first post said but I feel like I would probably agree with it

champagneplanet · 07/12/2024 18:34

We had a family Christmas day out cancelled due to the weather - fortunately we hadn't told the DCs what we were doing. So I put on a Christmas audio book and did 3 loads of washing, give the bathroom its Christmas clean and got the hoover out.

The above isn't very festive/cosy but it allowed us to then put the fire on, turn on the christmas lights and open the wine. We're now about to take the ipads back from the DCs and choose a christmas film to watch together and order a takeaway.

I personally can't relax if I haven't done some jobs first (my issue I know Smile)
