Nothing.
The PTA paid for a DJ and, as you say, no cost for hall or staffing.

Nothing at all, they had a prom disco and did various other things like a McDonald's/film afternoon. All covered by the school.

Nothing.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 06/12/2024 22:46

I've never been anywhere with a class rep either. It sounds like the parents are back at school with prefects!

The pta and school organised ours.

sanityisamyth · 06/12/2024 22:48

Been asked for a deposit of £15 with final cost around £45.

cabbageking · 06/12/2024 22:49

no charge for year 6

TheHeadOfTheHouse · 06/12/2024 22:52

We paid £25 a head, there were 35 in the class

How does the PTA communicate with parents of each class, and recruit volunteers for activities etc without class reps?

Changethenamey · 06/12/2024 23:06

around £20 for ours. Fully arranged by parents, not on school grounds. Kids loved it!

LimeYellow · 06/12/2024 23:10

I think it was £20 per child. It wasn't on school premises so that paid for the venue (village hall) and food. Someone did a playlist on their phone rather than paying for a DJ.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 06/12/2024 23:22

Do the class reps have to organise all the parents then? I'm so glad I escaped that!!! Infant school, junior school and senior school and never heard of them!

Pta had pta meetings people can go to, coffee mornings etc.

School is good with communication so texts or emails. Occasional email for volunteers but usually sorted through pta meeting or a tick box at the bottom of the slip for an event if you can help..

WhatsApp group for the keen regulars.

I'm quite glad it wasn't moderated through a queen bee in each class!

They just don't do those things. I've never worked in a school with class reps nor have my children's schools had them. Nothing PTA related has ever been class specific so I don't really know why they'd need to contact us.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 06/12/2024 23:31

No I can't really work out what the point of an extra layer of work is. But I do realise that's not the point of the thread!

snoopysnoooper · 06/12/2024 23:32

I don't think ours have a leavers disco which is sad! Dd is Y6 now and would love one.

Our pta makes a lot of money, and hosts lots of school events, there are events focused on certain years, there are weekly bake sales hosted by different classes, and the year6 prom is fund raised for and hosted by y6 itself. So it helps to have class reps. But clearly other schools do things differently.

DC1 nothing.PTA paid for everything but it was 2020 so was smaller.
DC2 was around £10 for the leavers hoodie, party PTA paid.
DC3 £20 for hoodie and I think it was a voluntary contribution to leavers party.
