To say this is enough gifts for adult child vs younger kids

DD is 22, she's graduated, lives in a flat share works etc.
We also have a 15 year old and 11 year old.

For oldest DD was asked what she wanted as her big ticket item, she asked for a new Apple Watch, just the SE one so we spent £219 on this. We also got her AirPods as the others want them and she mentioned that hers don't hold a charge much now.
Other things we've picked up

  • New bedding
  • Slippers (uggs so £90)
  • Ferrari Hat
  • Perfume
  • Hot water bottle
  • Blanket
  • Candle x2

DS has asked for AirPods and a new phone (he's had his about 3.5 years). The phone is on contract so not too bad. We are also going to get him new trainers and a new coat, I imagine about £300 on those and some "bits" like aftershave, phone case etc.
Youngest DD will get her first phone on contract, AirPods, a Stanley cup, some skincare (age appropriate) and some clothes. I also plan to get her a tennis racket as part of her Christmas as she's showing she wants to play.

Now if you include the cash price of the phones we are spending more on the younger 2 quite significantly.
I think this is fine as DD isn't a student anymore she's an adult with a wage and can look after herself. We are also still spending a lot on her.

AIBU to think this is fine?

Are you looking to adopt, OP? 😂👀

They look lovely, and I can't imagine she'd be disappointed with any of it being 'less than.'

I don't think you can include the full cash value of phones as such, as it's also presumably needed for life, not just fun!

You give them gifts, not receipts. I don't expect the giftees totting up the totals and comparing to each other.
To me, it already seems like too much stuff all around.

Blimey. Is this a stealth brag?

mycatsanutter · 03/12/2024 20:29

That's a lot of stuff for all of them , I have a ds11 and dd23 I have spent probably about £50 more on the ds.

Blimey. That is a lot. If you can afford it and you want to spoil your children at Christmas then fair enough. But you definitely don't need to worry that it's not enough! If the concern is about spending more on the younger ones...that's completely normal and to be expected. Not everything has to be equal in monetary value. You are getting things they want and they are very lucky all round.
