To feel bad?

I was with my friend in his car, heading home, when I saw someone on an electric scooter. They suddenly fell off onto the pavement right next to us. I panicked and we drove off without stopping. Later that night, I couldn’t stop thinking about it, and woke up feeling a bit down. It's been on my mind ever since.

Were there others around? Did they get up? I’d probably feel bad too. Not much you can do now though but try to learn from it if there is a lesson to learn? It’s not always possible to stop and maybe they were fine and were embarrassed and didn’t want attention.

Others were around, I didn't see if they stopped though

Of course YANBU to feel bad 🤷‍♂️

Why would you be?

loropianalover · 01/12/2024 22:39

I’m confused on why you panicked? Also you make it sound like your friend drove off because you panicked? Is there a reason your friend should have pulled over?

MathsMum3 · 01/12/2024 22:43

I'm a bit confused about who was driving. Either way, the driver should have stopped to check the other person was ok. Why did you panic?

MadnessIsMyMiddleName · 01/12/2024 22:51

Unless the driver you were with was responsible for them falling off in some way, I really can't understand why YOU would panic OP. However, if you did panic, thinking that they might be hurt, then shame on you for not getting your friend to stop, as they may have been having a heart attack or something that you could at the very least have called an ambulance for. As a mobility scooter user myself, although I might be embarrassed, I would far sooner someone stopped to check on me, than just leave me alone, when I might be sick, or injured, or simply unable to get up.

It looked like a painful fall so I felt a bit surprised by the fall

Ok? But why did you panic? And why did your panic prompt your friend to drive off without stopping?

Surely if the fall was so bad it caused you to panic, you’d pull in and go offer help?

FoxtonFoxton · 01/12/2024 23:02

It wasn't a very kind thing to do...why did you panic? You obviously didn't cause the accident. Personally I would have stopped to check they were OK but it's done now, you can't change it.
Those bloody electric scooters are a nightmare -we had a teen fly out into the road a few months back across a busy roundabout in the dark. Absolutely no lights, dark clothes...and few cars missed him by inches. I've also seen someone hit two pedestrians while riding one in our local town requiring an ambulance to be called for one of them. Fucking things.

WhatThePhuck · 01/12/2024 23:07

I dont know why panic

Sorry OP, when you said electric scooter, because of my disability I automatically thought you meant a mobility scooter. However, that doesn't really change anything, as the decent thing to do in that situation, would have been to stop and check the person was OK.

WhatThePhuck · 01/12/2024 23:38

No it's electric scooter like

Yes it would have been nice to check if they were ok

Was this before or after you and your friend had a fight about your cars, and a whole lot of passersby looked into your house?
