To ask what you’d spend for a kid’s birthday present

Hi! What’s acceptable budget for a 3 year old’s birthday present? I’m new to the nursery rooster of birthdays. Most class parents are moderately to very wealthy. I’m on a budget this year and I’d like to keep the balance between offering nice gifts and minding what I spend. Equally, what’s a good gift for these children who often have a bunch of luxuries? Any intel welcome.

I've just stocked up on party gifts in the works, they have Black Friday 3 for £12 with loads of things that would do boys or girls. I also buy 10 cards for £1 every few months in card factory and DD will choose which one to give.
I never go over £10 for school/nursery friends but I held a party for DD not that long ago and was shocked with the amount of £20+ gifts and gift cards that she received, that just isn't in our budget.

At nursery age for a child I don't know I'd get a book at the £5-6 mark. Most parents will thank you - very few people want more random bits of plastic in their homes.

For a whole class party no more than £10.00, I try to get something in a box that can be wrapped in paper, avoiding the need to spend another £1.50 on a gift bag and I get a 28p, 58p or 75p card from Asda as I guess most people will just chuck them in the bin afterwards..

I usually spend £10-£15 but also my son had a birthday recently and his absolute favourite gift was a kinder surprise egg, so truly don’t worry about your budget! A token gift is more than fine at that age and no nice and reasonable parent would expect you to spend more than you’re absolutely comfortable with on a present for a three year old.
