Children’s screens should be seen but not heard

Several times in the last few weeks I’ve been in confined spaces (planes/airports/restaurants) where children have been given iPads with the speakers on to entertain them and no headphones. I’m sure not alone in finding the constant noise of children’s TV and games intensely annoying. Am I being unreasonable to think parents should have the self awareness to know that nobody else wants to hear their children’s racket and provide headphones or mute it? This isn’t a thread about whether children should be on screens, only that I don’t want to hear it.

I agree, the sound of the 'pling, pling, pling' goes right through me. It's pure entitlement to allow your child to cause that sort of noise pollution in an enclosed public space.

No one should have to hear anyone's music, to or porn or phone ringing in any fucking public place

That was TV or porn

Everyone should mute or use headphones, not just children. I find adults are the worst offenders tbh.

Anyone listening to videos out loud in a public place should be immediately sent to a re-education centre.

Again?

Did you raise it with the parents of the offending children?
