Kids who don't know how to behave around others

Just had a literal run-in with a kid, who must have been about twelve, who lives and plays out on my estate.

It's properly dark, I got in from work, went to bring in my wheely bin from the pavement and was scooted into from behind, as I turned it around.

Both fine really (my first instinct was to ask, despite being shocked), but when I explained he needed to be more careful (for himself and others), I got "well you were in my way".

I wasn't planning to say any more, but I was just taken aback that he couldn't possibly be at fault, let alone sorry. He could have really hurt someone and had actually really given me a fright until I realised what had happened.

I told him he was being very rude and I'd actually been very reasonable with him. He was going too fast, he couldn't stop, he didn't see me, I should fuck off...then he took a photo of me (?) with his phone and scooted off.

I suspect he knows his parents will allow this sort of behaviour and they'll think I'm the problem too.

His parents have failed him. I doubt his life will turn out well with an attitude like that.

Hope you're ok.

Sad but not unusual.

His mum is obviously not on MN.
All children of MN’ers are always described as being “amazing”.
😉😁😁.

YANBU at all. It's also a certain sort that tells adults to fuck off ☹️

It's a public order offence to tell someone to fuck off and it sounds like he is over the age of criminal responsibility. Just saying...

I know!... I only discovered this the other week though and it has changed my perspective on the way people behave in public somewhat!
