This is a horrific use of power. These poor children.

Why are the staff not being prosecuted? It doesn't make sense.

I've just read this story and my blood has run cold. An untrained member of staff was reviewing the footage regularly but said nothing. The safeguarding governor didn't act. Disgusting.

I am sickened when we see these reports and everyone says “never again” but it always happens again. It’s criminal, it’s inhumane and there would be more outrage if a dog was being treated like this.

Motomum23 · 27/11/2024 10:43

I totally agree there is no justification for this sort of abuse, ever.

HeadinSand81 · 27/11/2024 10:43

Why is no one being prosecuted this does not make sense at all.

It's same old isn't it? Lessons will be learnt blah blah blah. Vulnerable people are always at risk of harm. It makes me sick

INeedAPensieve · 27/11/2024 10:48

With a severely autistic child these sort of stories make me so fearful. It's awful.

I'm sure there will be someone along soon to try and defend it.

Catza · 27/11/2024 11:34

The staff haven't been prosecuted because of the culture of abuse in the school and multiple failings by the relevant authorities to act. Now this abuse has come to light, I would like to hope that criminal cases will follow.

“the true measure of any society can be found in how it treats its most vulnerable members.”

The care of these children is a vital aspect of social care and education in the UK but unlike being a Dr or a Lecturer it is seen as a low status job - poor training and poor pay with very little support from staff.
The situation within the schools or care homes is so bad that all the empathic and caring staff leave because it makes them mentally ill - this has happened to 4 women I know personally). What is left is a mix of sociopaths, people chronically lacking empathy, bigots and those who just do not care.

It is appalling that these children are suffering and appalling that these 'schools' will in many cases me for profit businesses which we pay plenty for as tax payers. The whole view of social care and education needs re prioritising with highly qualified and trained carers, working reasonable hours on good pay so that they can do this essential work the the highest standards.

It sounds like something from the Victorian era. The SEN system in this country needs complete reform.
