Labiaplasty?

AsCuteAsByeBye · 27/11/2024 09:15

Hi everyone,

I am hopelessly posting here for traffic. Apologies I know it's annoying. I have started a few threads about this before under chat and health but got barely any replies so I'm shooting my shot here to see if I can get any feedback. NC for obvious reasons but I've been here a while and post frequently.

I am looking to get a labiaplasty in the near future and wondered if anyone has had one, or any experiences please?

I've always been incredibly conscious of my labia. It's mostly for medical reasons, as I get a lot of pain wearing most everyday clothes, when I exercise, have sex etc. I've been prescribed topical creams for this but it doesn't help when the blood circulation is lost when they get caught and it can be extremely painful. They aren't too 'long' - probably about a centimetre outside of my labia majora, but they still get caught an awful lot.

There is also a small part of me that wants to do it cosmetically. I know it's 'normal' but I am now 30 years old and have felt like this for 18 years.

Has anyone had the surgery? How was the recovery and are you glad you did it? Any regrets?

I'm aware that menopause can shrink them but this doesn't worry me. I don't want to waste the next potentially 15 years or more just to finally have smaller labia at menopause age - I would like to reap the benefits of doing this when I'm young(ish) so the recovery may be a bit easier at this age. I also don't want to be having miserable sex now for many years to come.

TIA all, any advice welcome.

Good luck and do update when you can.

AsCuteAsByeBye · 09/12/2024 09:04

Thanks @SallyForf, will do!

T minus 3 days, I cannot wait.

Trying to research any advice for recovery. I've ordered a Peri Bottle from Amazon as the surgeon said it would help with weeing, he also suggested a donut cushion for the first week to sit on so going to get one today too.

Idk but I have a too-short perineum due to post-delivery complications. I was wondering the cost to have it fixed but there’s a lot of judgement over ‘designer vagina’ surgery, that’s put me off. But I do think it would improve my life.

Just to come back to this, my surgery if it helps at all is costing £4.1k. That's with general, initial consultation and follow up & pain relief script.

Take £250 off if you don't want general.

I'm having a consultant gynaecologist do mine as opposed to a plastic surgeon who I have found the plastic surgeons are a bit cheaper. Im having mine at the Nuffield.

Can pay in one go by card, bank transfer, pay in 3, or take an interest free loan at 0%.

Hope that helps :)

Surgery day today!

FreshLaundry · 12/12/2024 08:21

Thanks @AsCuteAsByeBye thats so helpful to know.

Good luck today! 🍀 I hope your recovery is as easy as possible and you are really happy with the results ☺️

JobHuntingMum · 12/12/2024 08:26

Good luck, OP! I haven't had it done, but I have had other plastic surgery and have never regretted it for one minute!

AsCuteAsByeBye · 12/12/2024 12:18

Thank you! In my snazzy room now, waiting for anaesthetist etc - apparently 2nd in the list

Hi to everyone who may be still here.

All done! The surgeon came in and marked me, we didn't want to take all of it off but he's done an incredible job. Full results won't be seen for 3-6 weeks but from what I can see under the swelling he's done an incredibly best job.

Took 1.5 hours. Still a bit spaced out from the general and given antibiotics and cocodamol. I've taken one cocodamol and it's making me feel a bit sick so I'm going to hold off then and stick to paracetamol and ibuprofen unless the pain increases. Yesterday the pain was 8/10, today probably a 6/10, but he said be prepared for day 3. That's when it peaks. No driving for 2 weeks. I've got a peri bottle and witch hazel liners to go on my pad which are helping quite a bit. Lots of laying down today as sitting puts quite a lot of pressure on.

But anyway, the whole process was so good. Fantastic surgeon and team, I already am so glad I got it done.

Really happy that you're pleased with the outcome OP! I have to confess I remember day 3 being the worst, but it's all worth it! I had a general and wasn't prescribed any pain relief and was told to just take paracetamol / ibuprofen as needed x

WaldoPablo · 13/12/2024 10:11

Well done OP, hope its a smooth recovery for you.
I had it done in 2019 and it was life changing. I love how i look there now and feel so confident. The first week was a bit tougher than i thought it would be in terms of swelling and not being able to walk much but after that it was all fine and no loss of sensation or anything.

SallyForf · 13/12/2024 10:18

I'm really pleased for you, well done team.

Hi Op, I’ve just come across this thread and if you’re happy to share would find it really helpful to know how your recovery is and when they say you can exercise and have sex again? I’ve been considering this surgery for years and this thread has given me a bit of a push.

spinkledoughnut · 13/12/2024 11:20

Pleased for you OP! Wishing you a speedy recovery! Flowers

WigglyVonWaggly · 13/12/2024 11:24

Very happy for you, OP. Life’s too short to be in pain with something you have to effectively sit on every day!

I had one earlier this year, paid £3.5k at a local private hospital. Really happy with the results (I had to go back a few months later for revision surgery as it wasn't quite symmetrical) but have definitely noticed dryness since I had it done. They did warn me that's a possible side effect, but I feel so much more confident now. Forget other people's judgements, you get one life and if you can afford it and it'll make you more confident go for it. But I'd definitely say get it done in UK, don't risk Turkey or anywhere.

Labia aren’t supposed to be symmetrical…just like men’s balls hang at different levels!

Most women who get cosmetic surgery done on on their labias do it to "improve" the appearance. Only a small minority are doing it for health reasons. Whether you personally agree with it or not, if you're spending £££ to have a cosmetic procedure you don't want one side significantly different in appearance from the other afterwards!

Of course!

I took my medication this morning and feel a bit brighter now. I live in a little market town and managed a very short walk around a couple of the shops just now, I'm still very sore but I do try and get some fresh air soon after surgery, I was only out for 20 minutes if that but all seems okay. I don't want to run before I can walk!

Pain is now probably a 3/4 out of ten. Just taken more pain meds. They said take them even if you feel it's not needed. The swelling isn't too bad (yet) my clitoris is swollen even though that wasn't really operated on apart from the labia around it. I didn't have a clitoral reduction. Anyway, of course I'll keep you updated!

PM me if you like, more than happy to share a before and after picture and the surgeons details if you wish, but no worries if not, I don't want to be too TMi if you're squeamish :)

But honestly if you want it done, get it done. I already can feel the difference of no chafing down there even a day after surgery!!

Btw, consider having a personal, handheld bidet bottle with a nozzle for cleaning with saline. It is soothing and antiseptic when you go to the bathroom.

I had a tear ( natural) after son was born with his massive Bonce😂.. stitched up.
Saline washes and a DONUT CUSHION were wonderful. Felt like sitting on a hedgehog 🦔 with stitches otherwise.

Mrsmounjaro · 13/12/2024 13:14

I had this done on 20th September , best thing ive ever done for myself. I did go abroad, nordesthetics in lithanuia, performed by a consultant gynaecologist, £1150 inc anaesthetic, night in hospital, aftercare meds etc. Woke up in no pain at all, only bit discomfort when i wiped, couldnt be happier with the results.

I’d seen enough vulvas in changing rooms & had a few comments from partners to confirm to me that mine was different from the ‘norm’ not to mention my own perceptions. I didn’t want a designer vagina, I just wanted to be ‘normal’. I know we are told that all shapes and sizes are normal but mine really didn’t seem to conform. But it was really how I felt about it and not what others told me that made my decision for me. I paid for a labiaplasty which trimmed back the excess flesh, even though my GP made disapproved. It was what I needed. My slight regret is that I went to a Harley Street surgeon who I found through a small ad back in the day (22 years ago) whose original examination (without a chaperone) was more invasive than I was expecting and these days I think would be considered questionable. I’d try and get it done through a GP referral or at least through a recommended private surgeon.

LikeWhoUsesTypewritersAnyway · 13/12/2024 13:55

Nothing wrong with having it done @AsCuteAsByeBye if you are uncomfortable, and your labia keeps getting caught, but please be careful.

I have heard stories about women having it done, so it's as neat as a pin, and they're all chuffed with it, and then they realise it's had a bit too much chopped off, and when they pee, the pee goes all over the place. The labia acts like a funnel see, and makes the pee go 'downwards.'

Just be careful that's all. Because you can't put it back on!

Hi @LocationChange, I'm so sorry you went through that. I hope it was the result you were wanting though!

I had mine done yesterday at Nuffield by a consultant gynaecologist. Did plenty of research and made sure to go to a consultant who knows women's anatomy.

How did you recover, did it take very long?

Cor today is my sorest day for sure. Yesterday I only took 2 cocodamols one in the morning one in PM and then survived on ibuprofen but hoooooly cow I hurt today.

Does anyone know what can help with the nausea from codeine based products? I've just taken 2 after food so hoping that stops as I think the pressure of being sick will be incredibly painful.

I can feel all the tight stitches today and it's very very very sore. I ended up laying on my side most of the night and I think I where my legs have sort of sandwiched my vulva it's made it very sore.

Or I probably just did a bit too much yesterday :(

Also wondering if it's the antibiotics making me feel sick!
