To not bother eating?

Came down with some sort of cold last Monday and have barely eaten since. I am hungry, but the thought of food isn’t appetising and the idea of making food is exhausting. I don’t normally have a sweet tooth but a bag of sweets or chocolate is what I’ve been living off. Today I had a double cheeseburger from McDonald’s which I normally love but could’ve happily stopped after half. Im now forcing myself to have boiled eggs and toast just so I’ve had something else to eat, but actually, do I have to? Would it make me heinously ill just to not bother eating until food appeals? Half of google says I’ll make myself worse and the other half that it’s fine.

Usually I make homemade UPF free food 90% of the time but I’ve simply got no appetite for it nor energy to make it.

Apple juice works well for me in this situation - just basic cheap stuff in a carton is fine, and dilute and add ice if needed. Keeps you hydrated and the sugar gives you a bit of energy until you can eat. Also sometimes a plain biscuit, like a rich tea or water biscuit, can be a good start.

@CheesecakeTheCapybara I was going to say complan too. Amazon has it. The strawberry and banana ones are really nice!
Op they've got nutrients in them and take seconds to mix with milk or water. The milk tastes better and more filling obviously.
I often do this when I can't eat.

sureky it depends on how long OP hasn’t eaten. A couple of days without food is fine as long as they’re drinking. If the idea of food is turning your stomach then you should listen to your body. Obviousjy if it’s been a few days it’s a different matter

I don't think not eating for a couple of days is going to cause any issues. No need for nasty shakes or soups. Just ride it out, unless it's for a longer period.

Im going through the same thing right now. I just dont have the appetite to eat much at all.
My go to is raisins and natural greek yoghurt. Its sweet enough to tempt me and the yoghurt is providing me with nutrition.
Although its only a handful and a spoonful of yoghurt every 2 hours or so.
Hope you get better soon.

If you can stomach it, you could just buy some ready made chicken soup. The fresh stuff is better. The umami in the soup (also contained in soy sauce) is supposed to bring on appetite. A tin of soup is also ok but it’s not going to have a concentration of ingredients for healing.

I would suggest a mug of borough chicken broth. It is very soothing and will replace your electrolytes. I add tumeric and black pepper which helps with immunity.

I think not eating for a few days is fine as long as you keep hydrated, but if you have that acid feeling in your stomach then I would eat some toast, possibly with a scraping of butter and marmite, or a little rice, some pear or apple puree, maybe a good brand of chicken stew in toddler food form.

You can get an order of a few things from the supermarket that you can microwave in seconds: rice pouches, baby food pouches, jars of compote, plain crackers, Swedish toasts in a bag and and some ginger ale or sprite. And maybe some baking potatoes for bunging in the oven and eggs for boiling for when you feel better in a few days time.

Hope you feel much better soon.
