Does anybody actually see anything on their timelines from people they know?
it’s just endless suggested posts or people who you don’t know, showing you how to do things.
Earlier today I had a suggested post that showed me how to dry a duvet over a bannister.
🙄
I joined both of these platforms to see posts from my friends that lived in different countries. No chance of seeing their updates now, but I can see how a influencer has painted her walls a different colour 🙄

I know what you mean! If you select Friends then Feeds it shows you friends posts (but still some ads in between!). However, I've found the majority of my friends don't really post much anymore, myself included. I only really use it like a diary for myself these days and some of the groups are handy. Never done twitter or Instagram and never will!

Sorry Feeds, then Friends!

I deleted social media years ago, it was the best thing I did.
If I want to know what people are up to I ask them face to face.
The moment that made me leave it was when I bumped into 2 different people off my Facebook who I hadn’t seen in real life for about 15 years and they were asking me questions and speaking to my child like they were fully up to date with my life and knew my child, and I realised it was because of using Facebook like a bit of a diary. It woke me up to how stupid it was to do that and how vulnerable it makes you.

Gosh, I've had that too, freaky! And people saying "your holiday looked great", instead of "been on holiday lately?" to start a conversation. I've definitely cut back a lot on what I post as a result.

It’s mad. Requests for being your friends. One from the woman across the road who I am very friendly with and thought it was funny. Another from a firm who I had got an estimate from for clearing guttering. Loads of videos. Some really good and many staged. Recipes with titles that sound simple but go on and on adding so many ingredients that you lose the will to continue watching the result which is usually disgusting. Adverts etc. a few posts showing family goings on. Also hacking experienced by people I know.

I just deleted Twitter/X from my phone. I like politics but between the American election and now the Irish one I was spending way too much time and mental energy on it. I'm logged out of Instagram but still check Facebook because it's good for local things.
I really like the books/films/chat/gardening bits of Mumsnet but that's usually very light hearted and positive.
