Are hair growth products (mostly) scam?

Be it supplements, shampoos, leave-in oils and waters.
And I’m talking about people who always has had fine / thin hair - scalp kind of showing if not careful, usually it’s just DNA surely, less hair, hair is more fragile to breakage so won’t grow to be very long (and look healthy / good).

Does anything actually work, like really.

Again, this is not about people who had sudden hair lost or whatever for whatever reasons after years of having thick(ish) or ’normal’ hair.

I've worked in FMCG products before and businesses are always careful to substantiate the claims that they make for their products. If they don't have the evidence to back up their claims the adverts can be forced off air by the ASA.

Proof of effect can be either through things like actual scientific measurement or through panels (for example the claim 8/10 users believed it made their hair thicker).

Hopefully someone on here will have direct experience of a product that worked for them.

The problem with the claims made in relation to things like 8 out of 10 users is it often basedon a very small number of users. Actual proof would be peer reviewed scientific research.

I feel so sorry for posters with thinning hair and do comment. They get dozens and dozens of recommendations for products, often quite expensive and will add up to hundreds of pounds. However, after seeing a friend whose confidence was very knocked by her hair, I feel you are much better saving your money on all those products and supplements and spending it instead on a visit to a trichologist. They know what is really evidence based.

Logically, nothing applied to the hair/scalp is going to make any difference ..it might coat the hair to make it appear thicker but that's it... the hair follicles are in the skin, not on top!
Minodoxidil does improve blood flow to hair follicles (used to treat high blood pressure in higher doses) .
Claims always say things like 75% of users found it helped ...then you read the sample size was 15 people !

Revitalash has definitely, noticeably worked for me!
