To be fed up with work

So we are post pandemic and are suppose to have 3 core office days. Which most people in the building generally adhere to. Except my team leader, who very rarely does those three days. I really very rarely see her, but she doesn't make up for this with check ins either. There is a complete lack of direction or conversion from her, and honestly a lack of care which feels like it has permeated through the team. As she barely turns up to the office, nobody else does either, so quite often I have no idea who is going to be in when and regularly I've made the drive to the school, booked my child into wrap to accommodate the office hours, and I'm the only person in, which is a complete waste of my time.

I don't know whether to raise this or how to raise this. I feel completely demotivated. It feels like nobody really cares much. I find it baffling. Perhaps this is the new normal now with regards to working?

Can you raise it in a team meeting? Could you suggest a weekly check in on a Monday morning (teams call) where you all discuss your priorities for the week and confirm your location? That way if no one else is going in, you can say you'll work from home too.

Or speak to your team leader and ask if a less frequent but more formal arrangement can be in place for your team - whether that's one day a week is compulsory and agree which day, then 2 days are optional or something like that?

Our work place is 2 days a month to be in the office. But it's the same 2 days every 4 weeks, so no excuses not to be in.

Have you spoken to them. One of the hardest things to do is manage upwards. In your shoes I would ask for regular meetings. I would also be completely honest that you are feeling that you are wasting your time and money by getting to the office and no one else being there.

I know it's difficult and your manager may not like the message. Personally I'd email it in a professional manner and that gives you evidence should anything go wrong that you attempted a fix.

@SleepToad and @Tillow4ever thank you. I think i do need to raise it, and those are very helpful suggestions so thank you.
