Good morning,

Im wondering if anyone knows any charities or organisations that can help with the cost of driving lessons for parents of multiple children with additional daily needs. With appointments and school, this is a huge issue in our day to day life. Please let me know. Thankyou

Nope. It's not something that I've ever found a charity will help with. Interested to see if anyone else knows of something though!

Have you spoke to your local council?

I think you’d be hard pressed to find anywhere that will help with driving lessons, and from what you’re saying you have bigger things to be worrying about anyway. Are the driving lessons for you or your older DC, if DC they can get a part time job and pay for them themselves.

Back to the council - many councils have grants to help with the cost of living and discretionary payments, contact them.

Sorry I misread your OP and thought you were having issues with costs for day to day life.

Does DC get the mobility element of DLA?

Found this OP
https://contact.org.uk/about-contact/what-we-do/our-programmes/family-finances-programme/
Which mentions (my bold)
"This means families are better able to afford basic items and manage vital household costs, reduce or avoid debt, meet some of the extra costs associated with their child’s disability (typically travel, clothing, footwear and furniture), and cover a few modest ‘extras’, such as family outings and better food."

Families with disabled children in the UK are more likely to be struggling financially. Find out more about our Family Finances Programme.

How old are your children OP, and are they entitled to higher rate DLA?

You probably need a grant. Turn2us used to have quite a good database of grant-givers and funders, so I suggest you Google them.

Go fund me?

Maybe try Motability? https://www.motabilityfoundation.org.uk/charitable-grants/access-to-mobility-grants/driving-lessons/

Although you don't have additional needs, the fact that you have children that are would normally make you eligible for a motability car (my DPs had one because of my sibling)

Call them on 0800 500 3186 to see what they say.

Presumably because this is a high traffic thread, so hoping more people will see this? Did you mean to be so rude? You could have just scrolled past to the next AIBU post....
