AIBU?

To be peeved about two dogs jumping on me and muddying my clothes this week

...And there would have been a third incident tonight if I hadn't cut my walk short, turned around and come home.

I'm a dog owner too...twice in the last week someone else's (larger) pooch has jumped up on me while we've been walking, distributing mud over my clothes.

Tonight the same woman whose dog jumped on me yesterday was walking again...I kept my distance and somewhat tetchily said "I hope your dog isn't going to jump on me again" (she apologised yesterday, but I would have offered to wash the victim's very muddy M&S cardigan if my dog had done it to her).

She said "it's because you carry dog treats in your pocket"

My reply: "Yes, but I've trained my dog not to jump up on people."

AIBU to be ...what if her labrador encounters a child with, say crisps in its pocket...is it ok for the dog to jump on the child?

(I am premenstrual, but even so)...

My friends dogs do this, they are both good size medium breeds. The other day someone got very uppity about it and I had to listen to my friend going on about how unreasonable the lady was and how "if you are out with dogs you should expect to get muddy". When I pointed out that I would be furious if the dogs had jumped on me and that I feel not jumping up is compulsory basic training for any dog (regardless of size) she went very quiet (and a bit purple).

YANBU, I would not let my child put chocolate hands all over a stranger at a soft play area and I certainly would not allow my dog to jump on anyone (muddy or not)! (Although as you accepted the appology I am not sure remarks are going to help much!)

Good, glad you think I'm not bu.

I didn't exactly accept the apology, just stomped off without saying anything...very passive aggressive of me. What I wished I'd done was take my cardi off and given it to her to wash.

Just told dd who says this dog does it to her all the time.

Years ago, our neighbour used to let her dog roam the estate by herself.
But it always seemed to be on the nastiest rainiest days.
She would follow me all the way to the bus stop and keep jumping up at me with her muddy paws.
Really used to nark me as i would be all tidy and nice for work and always had to clean mud off myself.
Went to speak to her about one day, but she just said i should "kick the dog" , but then she was the type that would scream at her DS and DD with the most foul language i've ever heard.
Not surprisingly her dear DS has turned into a local gang leader and the Mum's car is always a target, has had all four tyres slashed and just last week 2 windows smashed by a rival gang.
Just keep thinking of Karma being repaid
