To go on holiday with 5 months old baby

I am looking to book a holiday for Feb 2025 to get some winter sun. My baby would be 5 months old then, she's exclusively breastfed.
Places I am looking at is either Algarve/Canaries or Malta. Will be booking all inclusive. We also have a 3 year old DS.
DH thinks IABU considering baby would be so young to travel with, while I think it would be easier as I will be breastfeeding and it's before weaning and I won't have to keep looking at options to feed her and she will have had lots of her immunisation by then. I am quite tired now as the baby is a month old now and I really want to go on a holiday to have some time to rest and relax in sun next year as I haven't been on any holiday this year due to pregnancy, work etc and want to have something to look forward to.
I am posting to get any opinions on which might be a good option to go to with young DC and also if IABU to go on this holiday.
Thanks for reading.

100%! We went to a much more difficult destination when our youngest was 5 months and I was breastfeeding too. It was so easy and he was a dream! Just napped a lot in the carrier while we were out exploring and no worries about food! Now he’s 1 he’d be MUCH harder 😅

Amazing time to go with a baby - they’re free on the plane, really easy to get around. Take advantage before they’re mobile!!

we went to Malta in January and it was around 17-18 degrees so much warmer than the UK but not baking hot. Worked well for our then 14 month old. If you want hotter, probably Canaries but be careful of what you wish for with a baby and the heat. Maybe consider somewhere warm not baking.

IME, taking a non-walking, non-eating, non-needing the toilet and non-temper tantruming baby on holiday is the optimal time to take them 😂

This!! 5 months is the perfect age - basically as robust as they can get as a baby that’s still too little for weaning. The absolute sweet spot.

Stay at home in 2026 though. Recently did a 6h flight with a 3.5yo (fine) and a 17m old (absolute nightmare, I wanted to skydive out of the emergency exit).

Thanks! I’m being a tad overdramatic… She is generally lovely and the actual holiday was great. But the flights were quite horrible! 😂 My eldest was much more chilled as a toddler. Pregnant with number three and have resolved to stay in the UK whilst they are one, for the benefit of the general public.

We went to Mallorca in August with a 4 month old and 4 year old. Baby is ebf and was a total breeze but he is also a generally very chilled baby. Totally recommend!

I think it will be wonderful!

We took DD to Spain when she was 3 months old. I think the heat and the being outdoors all the time did her good, because she slept all day, and all night. When she was awake we had lovely times playing and in the swimming pool.

Much easier when they can't go anywhere!

She did manage to get a minor sunburn despite only ever sitting in the shade though, which was very upsetting for us. So make sure you use suncream (not advised I know) or UV clothing even in the shade.

We went when DS was 7 months old, EBF and really enjoyed it.

Defo go to the canaries from your list at that time of year and even then, March is more likely to be a bit warmer than Feb. Also advise seeing if you can get a hotel with a heated pool- I have personally found the pools too cold in the canaries in March. You want a pool that your 3yr old can play in all day and warm enough that you can take the baby in for a dip too.

We went went DS was 7mo and it was great! Much more apprehensive of how our 2025 holiday will go when he'll be 3.5 😂

We took our twins on holiday when they were 9 months. Flying was super easy! They loved playing in the sand, in the pool. Needed shady places to have a nap. Was great taking them to the beach bars/ restaurants- and everyone loved them! Don't take too many toys. Plenty to occupy them there!

We hired a house in Marbella, by the way.

I did with my dd, I went to Spain.

It was fine, she slept on the plane, I breastfed wherever which made life much easier.

Dd was just starting to wean so must have been 6 months ish as I remember her trying fruit and bits of food off my plate.

Much easier than going on holiday with a toddler which was really hard work.
