To consider bariatric surgery?

I have PCOS and find losing weight really difficult. I'm now at 25 stone and desperately unhappy with my size.

Has anyone had bariatric surgery and would like to share experiences?

@Dramatic I personally have had nausea and an upset stomach if I've eaten rich food. But there are lots of side effects and risks. Some people find it really difficult, they struggle with bad symptoms. If anyone is considering it it's really important to do your own research.

People can regain the weight but some don't. You have to make long term changes to your diet and lifestyle for it to work longer term.

I'm hoping to taper down when I get to a healthy BMI and stay on a low dose for as long as possible as it's been really helping with my chronic illness.

I know this is an old thread, but am so upset /my friends late wife had bariatric surgery - it made her utterly miserable as she loved food and the surgery didn’t reduce the hunger, just made it impossible for her to eat much. In the end she drank herself to death last year because she obviously could still drink spirits, but the effect was so much greater as she couldnt eat enough to counteract the effect of the alcohol.
I realise this is an outlier example, but please do think through the ramifications before deciding on surgery.

I read something about people having greater levels of substance and alcohol addiction issues following bariatric surgery, theorising it is due to transferred addiction - morbid obesity is almost always a result of food addiction so it makes sense.

I never smoke or drank before my surgery and still don't.

It's sad that that happens to a small amount of people but a procedure like this helps so many more than it damges, otherwise they wouldnt do it.

I've gone from 19st to 9stone and fit as a fiddle now when I couldn't walk up the stairs without pain.
