To ask if anyone else DOESN'T do Christmas stockings?

We Speedwells can't be the only family in Britain who don't put gifts in stockings.

Can we?

Never had a stocking growing up but I do them for my children. DD (now 13) was always a bit suspicious of the idea of Santa being in her bedroom, so the empty stockings are left out on the landing on Christmas Eve. I just put toiletries, socks etc in them but it's a nice surprise.
Don't get Christmas eve boxes or weird elves though.

I think the stocking is the best bit!

We’ve never done stockings, I don’t think we did them growing up either, however I’m actually contemplating it this year as I quite fancy the idea and as my son is now getting older he knows he’ll not be getting tonnes this year and a stocking seems like it could be a perfect way to limit how much I buy!?

I never had a stocking as a child but I used to put a small number of very small presents in a stocking for my daughter when she was very young to discourage her from getting up reallly early on Christmas Day.

Nope. Everything goes under the tree now mine are a bit older as the stocking was always padded out with tat/stuff that was going to end up in landfill!

Did anyone else’s parents not wrap the presents from Santa?

Mine! They were in a pile - my brothers shared the sofa and mine were on an armchair. We were giddy with excitement tearing down the stairs to see what FC had brought.

And he never let us down.
